Hey Guys, I recently placed an order for a set of new cranks, I wanted something with a 22mm Splined System so I again went with the Profile Columns and this time they were defect free which I am stoked about, the first set I had were 175mm and this set now I went for 165mm and I gotta say I'm loving the 165mm length it makes riding so much easier especially trick wise as well and I've been through 175's, 170's and now 165's and I think I going to use this size from now on no doubt about it super glad I took a chance on these.

Edit: I'm 5ft 9in for anyone curious about my height.

What size crank's do you guys prefer, setup/style, let's hear it.

Quick shot and description of my drivetrain setup

I'd say if your 6ft or under and you don't use your bike for racing you'll definitely feel much more comfortable, going from 175mm to 165 pedaling in general just feels so much better/ more natural.

VERRRRRRY Nice Set Up You've Got Yourself Thar! I'm 6'1 In Me Shoes! I've Run 160mms On My Street Bike, I've got 175mm's Currently But On The New Bike I'll Have 165mms! BAD ASS Length! Hops & Spins ARE Easier!

Fuck yeah thanks Topsey !

Agreed man hops and spins are pretty sweet with this size of arm, It is a big difference from 175 in an awesome way to, I'd say if someone is thinking about trying 165mm I would definitely recommend it 100%

Edit: I just wish they had an option for a 5.5" spindle instead of 6", I had to shorten the spindle and spindle bolts to get the correct length from inside crank arm to chain stay and so my feet weren't doing the splits.

I'm strictly pegless, but my feet still always hit the bolts. Such an aggravation. So what I'm building now has 165s. Heard nothing but good things. I will say though, I will beat the fuck out of myself if this becomes a trend-over-function thing. Like 10" bars. Nobody ever needs to use those.

I'm telling you now from experience it really is feel's way better then 175mm cranks I seriously will not go back to anything else. Fuck trends I hear you on that.

Edit: Function/ performance over anything else, I'm still running brakes as well

All good, if you ever do decide to go shorter you won't regret it.

Tiny bars suck. Its like riding your little sisters bike, may as well throw a basket and a bell on it then.

I went from 175's to 170's and it was odd for a few min, but feels great meow.

I want a pair but unless you have huge feet or a 13. slammed CS length 165mm cranks shouldn't be a necessity

always curious about 165mm. my old indoensian cranks were apparently 175mm and they felt nice. messed it up and had to changed to united value cranks 175mm. they definitely feel different. should I take the risk and get 165mm?

You wouldn't think such a small amount would make a difference but it does.

Height of the person, length of the top tube and rear end play a part in crank size, same for bar size as well.

Yeah I hear you, if you have a 21" or bigger frame with a 13.75" or longer rear end then it might start to feel a bit odd having shorter cranks.

My frame's 20.4 with a 13" Re which the 165mm's are puuurfect for.

If you are 5'4 - 6ft and have a top tube of 20 - 21 and a rear end of 13 - 13.75 I would recommend 165mm for sure or if you have a friend or know someone who has 165's ask to ride their bike to see if you like the feel of them.

175 I believe

Edit: They also come in 165mm, to check just look at the inside of each arm it should have the length stamped on. smile

You say that, but I'm 6'6 6'7 somewhere in that range. I've played around with the idea of getting 10's, because even when i try 9s or whatever, I'm hunched over as fuck.

Plenty of people! Fit, subroaa, bsd. I can't think of anyone else of the top of my head coz its still before 9am..... ngl, when I switched to 165 I didn't feel a big difference, but I put that down to new bars, cranks sprocket and a fc. I couldn't tell what felt different if you get me aha

I'm with you there dude. I usually stay in the 8.5 and up range. 10s are probably comfortable for grown dudes for sure. It's just weird when I see anyone who is definitely not over 13 using them lol. Like being on a chopper.

Size 12 feet and a 12.8 slammed chain stay (I believe) for me...Would you guys suggest going to 170 or 165? I'm currently running 175s and I'm not too sure what the crank length affects haha
Edit: dans lists the CS as 12.8 slammed but the sunday website lists it at 13 slammed...I'm trusting the sunday site haha

I'd go for the 165's with that CS length. You'll feel a little different when you first ride them but after a session you should be used to it. With 165's my bike feels more stable when i'm doing spins, or anything in the air really, i guess thats due to my feet being closer to the seat so I have more bike to grab onto.

There are quite a few brands out there doing 165mm, just go to danscomp and search through their crank selection and it should give you a good idea on who has what sizes.
