This might be a more free coaster-specific thread, but what are your guys' thoughts on 180ing right before a fakie hop or cab, or any fakie trick really. People like Ian Schwartz would 180 about 20-30 feet back and fakie towards the obstacle before executing their move. Now-a-days I see a lot more people doing their 180 right before the obstacle and popping instantly. I think the later can make things a bit easier, I used to think it looked gross, but its kinda grown on me. Doing a fake back 30 feet to a huge fakie hop will always be a beautiful thing though.

I prefer 180ing quite a ways back. Think it looks better. I do it close though because my fakies are all over the place, haha.

I think right away just looks better especially for edits... no one wants to see someone fakie for over a 30 seconds.
But when riding alone, why not, it's freestyle so whatever you are comfortable with is what you should do.

i prefer a middle length fakie, short is more for tight lines, long if you are showing off

depends on the setup. bigger stuff is ok for 180 quick pops cause if you need speed ordon't wanna take the fuck your self up risk

i feel lke it needs to be a mix between the two.. not super long but not super short.. just 180 fakie a few feet and then do the trick but not 30 feet! thats just too long.

For a coaster i wanna see a nice fakie beforehand, otherwise it just looks like the same old thing you see cassette riders doing.
