I love 28/9, but it's all personal preference.

I like 25/9. Tried 28/9 out for about a month, found myself pushing my bike up hills more often so i went back to the 25/9.

I actually just got my 28 in the mail yesterday. Rode it for the first time today and I love it. So much faster than my friends with not much effort. I got used to it in like 10 minutes. Then I hopped on my friends bike and it felt so slow. Id say go for it if you dont ride up hills often. As for hitting it on grinds, I didn't at all today but I have a mds so it wouldn't be a big deal anyway.
OT: Has anyone ever rode 27-9?

Give it a try, if you don't like it switch back to 25.

I like both, which really sucks. I think I like the harder gearing a bit more but sooo many hills. I went to the beach with 28/9 and it felt nothing. If I lived at the beach or where its super flat, i'd easily run at least 30/9.

Getting a 27t next month though.

fack off

5/10/2013 5:41 AM

27/9 or 30/10 is the best gearing in my opinion

|

5/10/2013 5:42 AM

Haha im running 25-10 but i like doing Flat stuff, however it is alot slower than my friends rides. Im gunna run 25-9 on the new bike which will be the first time ive ever ran a 9t driver (scary stuff!) Im perfectly fine with "standard" gearing.

Well yeah, you live in a pretty flat area. I would love to have 30/9 and live in a flat area. I went to the beach and was able to haul dick every where.

Shit, you should've got a 30t mds. Get a 30t sunday knox, and sell your MDS.

ive rode 25 9 for awhile and the only issue ive had is that frames are made so retarded in the rear end i can never slam my wheel

gonna be trying out 30t 10t gear ratio so i can slam the shit out of my rear

I like my 25/9 because it makes it easier to ride spots with little run up, but it does feal really slow when I wanna go fast. Also it sucks to try and pedal into strong wind with I high gearing, even with 25 it sucks, but thankfully we don't get really bad wind that much here

i fucking hate the wind lol

I literally can't run 25-9 now. I end up slipping out or just dying or something. 28-9 feels a lot more solid, and I'm always way ahead of everyone in the group, haha. It does suck for hills, though, but I don't live in a really hilly area.

Running 28-9 with 170mm cranks now and its perfect.

28-9 feels so nice.. i did it for a few months but i run 25-9 at the moment.. i can't really do 28-9 right now, but it's great for getting up speed, it builds your legs up really well which also adds to how well you're able to tuck and kick the back end around, and although i suck at fakies, i've heard higher gearing makes them easier since you don't pedal as fast..

28/9 all the way. if i didnt need to keep the right gear ratio to keep the slack on my freecoaster at a maximum, id be running 18/9 again. it feels so awesome
