It just takes practice. I'm 15, 5'4, 120 pounds, don't even work out, and i was still hefting around a 28 pounder over the summer. My bike is 25.2 pounds now and its SUPER easy to ride. So just go out and ride. You will eventually start building up enough muscle.

Idk, a light bike is always good to have really. Its nice to be able to have plenty of control and a lot of the heavier builds i have had have been my least favorite. They really just get on my nerves because i don't like to get sore when i ride. One way or another i can pull the same tricks, i just don't like the amount of effort a heavy bike requires. Really the best thing to do is just have it right in between. 26-24 are just fine but i have had it to like 22 before and that was a bit crazy. Felt almost parkish but i still liked it. I started on a beefy 40 pound bike and that was just fine when i was starting.

Heavy bikes are so nice for when you are trying to learn stuff and practice. It makes it so when you get it lighter you can be super controlled.

24 isnt normal now, at least here in socal
nowadays, bikes are mostly in the 27-28 pound range thanks to people getting stronger frames, 4 hub guards. giant tires, taller bars, freecoasters and pegs along with guard sprockets, which all add weight

The bike I started on was 45 lbs without pegs or brakes. Back then at 160 lbs I could hop it bar height. There is a lot of technique involved.

Now my setup with no pegs or brakes is around 21 lbs. I can't hop bar height anymore. Stem high is a good one for me. With my front brake, back brake, gyro, and 3 pegs I come in around 27 lbs or so rough guess.

Whats the deal with everyone know their bikes weight? Mine is 'lightish'. But its probably quite heavy... I could find out the weight, but i care too little to go to all that trouble
