Ive seen this done before, just wondering if theres any true disadvantage to doing this? Lacing a 36h hub to a 48h rim (Skip every 5th hole.)

Also, would I need different length spokes than if I were to lace it to a 36? I currently have a 36h Gsport Ratchet laced with 184mm spokes to a 36h Alienation 7up. I want to relace the hub to a 48h Alienation Delinquent (same Effective Rim Diameter.) Should the 184mm spokes work on the new wheel?

I'm gunna do this so I have more holes in my rim for the weight advantage.

In all seriousness I'm guessing it might make the rim fractionally weaker but I have no idea on this one tbf. I don't think it'd make any real difference

Never thought there was an advantage to it just figured that the person fucked up and got a hub/rim with too many holes

Call up some professional bmx shops. I was going to be a sarcastic asshole and give a link to Google but I Googled it for you. I didn't find anything. But I didn't go past the first page. Second page on is no man's land I'm guessing.

Idea. E-mail g sport or cinema. They are the wheel people.

Surely you'd skip every 4th hole not 5th hole?

well as you saw on my thread http://www.vitalbmx.com/forums/General-BMX-Talk,2/Finally-i-have-laced-my-36h-hub-to-my-48h-primo-rim,1290879?
its possible but its not worth at all, first you will use 32 spokes, not 36
second, the spoke diameter should be the same but you need to be good at lacing wheels
and last,if you dont have a nipple wrench dont even try to do it
as for the strength its pretty much the same as an 36h wheel!

I know how to do it with all 36. But I won't need need different sized spokes? And is truing it the same as truing a regular 36h wheel? Encountered any problems with it whatsoever?

$40 for the set brand new. If you find me a set of decent (Odyssey, Gsport, Alienation preferably) in really good condition for $50 then ill do it. Double wall, welded seem, etc. Text me or msg me on fb.

Emailed every shop/mail order on the first five pages of google under the search "bmx wheel builder". 3ride replied saying its not possible, empire said its possible but they have no experience with it and dont think its worth the trouble.

I did 48 hole hub to 36 hole rim two separate times. Worked fine for me.

It was a profile rear laced to an Alex Supra J and a Gsport Monkey front to a Primo hula Hoop
