Are they really that much stronger than a good modern day properly laced 36h wheel?

If you take identical setups, have one 36H and the other 48H, the 48H will be 20-30% stronger.

I have a 48 ratchet to a ribcage. But I'm in the process of getting myself a 48 homer for the front

I'm a punk bmxer, I can't do it well so I do it loud.

Bonedeth are dropping the Biodome Rim & Porn Hubs in 48h super soon! I wouldn't mind having 48s again! I rode them exclusively for YEARS! Then I switched out to a 36h Front Wheel & I broke a few spokes grinding without Hub Guards, but when I really learned to Grind, I stopped snapping spokes & then Hub Guards started popping up & that was that problem sorted! I bit the bullet & ordered a 36h Ratchet when they first dropped & I've never had any problem with 36s So I never bothered going back & then they kinda faded away! It will be GREAT to have that option there for when I start Riding Hard again, If I start destroying Wheels (Which I doubt! A well laced 36h is PERFECTLY Strong Enough for almost everyone! Even My Fat Arse!) but knowing the option IS there = More Chilled About Hucking A Drop/Gap & Not Worrying About Blowing Up A Wheel!

thats what im holding out for ! i dont care much for bike weight so id much rather go with the stronger wheel. and i think they look badass. all those delicious spokes.

This can be true, but they have found a 3 cross or more 36 can be pretty close in strength and LIGHTER.

For sure, my current rear wheel is a 48 spoke Hoffman Generator complete, I believe the hub and rim both weigh over 19 ounces. Swapping it out for a 36 spoke wheel with a Tree hub and Birdcage. Probably similar strengths if not stronger, and over half a pound lighter.

Depends which bike im on, 36h G-Sports on the Ruben, 48h G-Sports on the Barcode. Always felt safer on 48s and I never true them after the bedding in stage I love them, definetly getting the bonedeth hubs laced to some big city rims. (I WILL find them haha. )

I have 48 spokes, but that's mainly because I bought my Hazard wheels over 10 years ago when that was the norm. They also have flip flop hubs.

I'm running a 48hole ribcage to an odyssey hazard v3. Im loving it, Solid as fuck. Love 48holes. Harder to true because my spoke wrench is large, but still I love it.
