Ok, so i'm around 6'1" maybe taller, I ride a 21" tt frame and 29" x 8.375" handlebars. I was wondering if getting 8.5 rise bars would feel better or not? Any other tall riders out there that know the best bar size?

^thats a good way to go to. but im 6'3 and i ride a profile push and p10's. But if you get a frontload, and have the stem slammed with p10's i bet it would be perfect and look sexy. but you could do 9" bars with a slammed topload and feel like you have tens. Or go 8.5 and feel like you have 9's or 9.5's.

I am 6 ft and have 8.5 rise with a front load, and honestly it felt amazing when I had the stem upside down, but I managed to destroy a headset spacer (honestly, it was ridiculous).

Run a Sunday Freeze topload stem and get some Fit Skyscrapers bars or WTP Wham bars. They're both 9.25" and they feel good on the back. You can also get some Odyssey Lichtenberger Sandbars if they're still around which have a 9" rise.

What do you think of the 8.75" Fiend team bars, or even the shadow vultus bars?

I'm probably a little taller than you and I ride 9" shadow vultus with a top load on a 21" frame. It feels good and all but I think I might downsize here in the future and pick up a stem with a slight bit more rise.

I'm 6'6 and ride 8.625 with a Fly Alta stem. 9 " and up are overkill

I'm 5'9" and I have 8.5 bars with a 28mm rise tl stem and it feels alright but I'm gonna be going up to a 9 inch rise with a 36mm rise tl stem.

See if you can ride someone else's setup that is similar to what you're considering, as it's all personal preference. I'm 5'8" and ride 8.5" rise Tree Motos on a frontload stem (Animal Remix). I love my bars and the stem has been great to me, but I'm considering a topload stem now.

9" Rise bars would be perfect for you'r height, not to high and not to low.

|

9/23/2013 11:48 PM

IMO it should be personal preference?

I am 6`00`` and ride a 20.75 now, but it feels long (though I like it) and uncut bars, but I used to ride a 19`` Hamilton, and had Fly Mosca (small bars) cut all the way down, with the small Fly stem (no reach at all) and liked that set-up as well.

IMO you can adapt and ride the same on any setup, the things that change are response and balance which I think are more preference then necessity, that`s just me though.

I just ordered some Odyssey Lumberjack XL bars. They're gloss black and my bikes matte black and red. You think that color scheme will look alright, and are those good bars in your opinion?

Yeah I'd say for your height, you could definitely go a little taller. I'd say at least 9". just take out all your headset spacers, or slowly add them as you get used to the extra height.

|

9/27/2013 9:39 AM

WOAH. I am late with this. but I'm 6'3" and I ride a 21.25 and 9 inch bars with a topload. I like more room so I'll be moving up to a 21.6 Raider frame/10 inch Raider bars combination soon.

|

9/27/2013 10:31 AM

Well, I'm later as well. I ride a 21.25" with Perfect 10's on a Challenger, and uncut R32's with probably an inch of spacers, maybe more, it's just whatever is needed to get the stem where it needed to be.
