So my son wants to learn to ride on a BMX (hasn't learned yet).

I picked him up a 2012 Stolen Heist

I know typically you don't sit on the seat and I'm sure he won't in a couple months, but what kind of post/seat can I get so be can have the most comfortable ride while be learns???

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!

I would recommend a Momo racing seat or similar
.EDIT:I would also recommend a 5 point harness.

Really any post, as for comfy seats, I love my shadow crow, but any fat seat will be comfy, have him pick out something he likes he may even like a skinny seat it's all preference, but a fat pivotal will be the most comfortable

i used to like pork till i found out it came from cops...

Haha I had a fat macneil pivotal seat that was really comfortable but I ripped it. The demolition fat seat was good too. All pivotal seat posts are really the same besides length or color.

Somebody suggested a Tree Fat Ergo Seat.

Also - since it doesn't have a pivot seat now - are those easy to change to?

Yeah Tree makes good quality stuff. Yeah they are, you just buy the pivotal post and pivotal seat and there ya go. They are pretty easy to use and adjust too.

Will the 320 mm one fit in the bike? Just want to make sure!

yes, 320 mm post should fit, if it's too long, trim it with a hacksaw or just buy a shorter post and return the one you bought

kink sexton pivotal (on sale now) : http://www.danscomp.com/products-PARTS/470140/Kink_Sexton_Pivotal_Seat.html

PARTS/472002/Shadow_Conspiracy_320mm_Pivotal_Seat_Post.html

pivotal posts ( except the wedge tightening ones) are all pretty much the same except for length
choose a seat and a post, and order them, either from dans, albes, empire, other online store, or your local bike shop, and you will be set

Thanks for all your help!! I went with Tree Ergo Fat seat with the shadow pivotal post. He already has learned to ride and is asking how to do tricks!

|

5/28/2013 2:20 PM

tell him to learn bunnyhops as they are the most important thing lol (other than a decent balance)

^then manuals, then I'd say tell him to start grinding, after that fakies then 180's(I'd recommend that order),wish I learned that way because I would have progressed soo much faster

My Tree Ergo Slim is the most comfortable seat I've ever used. Can't imagine how comfortable the fat version would be.
