What is the 9 Tooth sprocket ratio

|

If you ain't fallin you ain't trying.

9 tooth is the driver size... 25t, 28t, 23t, 30t etc. Is re sprocket size... having a larger sprocket will increase your top speed, but it will make it harder to start pedaling... I run 28-9 and it's awesome...

9 tooth is a driver thats the gear on your back wheel
the Sprocket is the gear in the front

a mix of these makes your gear ratio I run 25/9

there's no such thing as a "9 tooth sprocket ratio"

This is pretty cool. It factors in tire brand, size, front and rear sprocket sizes. Having larger tires is the same thing as getting a bigger sprocket. Everyone always forgets to factor that in. With everyone running bigger tires a 25/9 setup probably feels more like a 26/9 or 27/9 used to feel with like a 1.75-1.95 tire in the back. Yes, that's what I used to run in the early 2000s. Anyway, check this out.

25 9 is the same gear inch as 44 16 (give or take). It's also roughly the same as 28 10, 30 11, 33 12, 36 13, 39 14, 42 15. Which is the standard in bmx. But, 28 9 makes you feel like you're actually going somewhere. Once you go up a few teeth and get used to it, you'll never want to go back down

Okay Well I'm deciding between a Fit Str or a Sunday blue print the Sunday has the 9 tooth driver and the fit has a 25/9 ratio

It's going to be the same thing (gear ratio-wise)

Why the Fit STR? Why not the PRK... the PRK comes with a nice gyro and brake setup....

Unless you wanted the 4 pegs... if it were me though I would get the PRK and buy a nice pair of plastic Odyssey pegs... other than some probably cheapie metal ones one the STR (I mean the pegs are probably fine, but still)

The 25/9 isn't a ratio, that's just the size of the sprocket/driver. If the Sunday has a 25t sprocket then they're the same ratio.

Lol... I don't think explaining what other gear ratios are it's going to help when they don't understand gear ratios to begin with.

I actually assumed the op is an older guy and was wondering how 25 9 compares to 44 16.

Speaking of big sprockets, I got this today, to go with the other fbm bits I've got but have no use for :/

The OP is that kid who's been asking questions & not taking anyone's advice. So, either he/she has that "50 first dates" disease or they don't want to listen

Some of the best spots in my area are down a huge hill and by hill I mean mountain. Does that effect anything

There are not a whole lot of completes with anything other than 25-9 gearing... just buy a bike, get a new chain and 28t sprocket if that's what you want...

Nah 30t is where its at. I hate running 25/9. Unless youre doing super techy street stuff its too slow. I run 30/10 right now and I love it. Used to run 28/9 and that was cool too

I hate jumping on someone else’s bike with 25 9 , I feel like a bitch pedal your ass off and get no speed

If it's a fraction, it's not a ratio. Lol. It's one or the other. 25:9, there's your ratio. AKA 2.77777777778:1

And to add to the discussion. I find 28 or 30/9 helps when landing fakie. The cranks spin slower and have more torque against your front foot so you don't lose as much speed if you land front foot heavy.

Your little brother has a problem. He shouldn’t be calling you daddy. He should get that seen to.
