Yeah, shoutout to helmets. Buy one and wear it. That helmet actually wasn't even mine. I was wearing a helmet that day but it wasn't certified so Keith let me borrow his certified helmet to try the flip. I ended up still getting knocked out from the impact and I cracked the back of his helmet on the inside.

I can only imagine what would have happened to me if I was wearing the uncertified or nothing at all.

I appreciate the concern though. I just made a long thread explaining the whole story and everything in detail. I'll try to get on and post tomorrow after I go see a concussion specialist.

Still should wear em. I saw a friend 180 a parking space (Flat ground) and slip a pedal, hit his head so hard he had a seizure and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

BMX riders are stupid to not protect at least their heads like that.

Always wear a helmet. My friends though I was crazy when I spent $100 on the bell full cut or whatever but it's saved me twice

Sometimes you juste ride your bmx from a spot to a other spot and get hit by a car, my helmet was split, but my head was ok.

|

Agreed. I wear one in the streets, trails, park, you name it. Feels so weird without one for me as well. I see no advantages of not wearing one full time.

A true nihilist would believe in nothing, have no loyalties, and no purpose other than, perhaps, an impulse to destroy. self destruction is nihilism

Right. Nothing to do with height. Everything to do with
1. Head being stopped short
2. Brain still moving and slamming into skull

And 3. Helmet absorbs some of the impact energy so concussion is not as severe.
4. And/or may change a fatal impact into non fatal impact.

My uncle that recently died was like Walter. We're actually blowing up his ashes in April with some tannerite and a Barret m82. That's what was in his will. But I'm not a nihilist N far from a pussy

Wear a helmet is essential guys.
I'm the kind of guy who always wear a helmet while riding park and also street for scary shits and still... I had paid the price of non wearing a helmet a month ago.
I was going to do a quick one hour session at the plaza next to my house (so no helmet that time), with a lot of flat groud, some marble flower blocks to grind and a 5 stairs, my local spot.
So I do some flat tech stuffs to warm up, then 180 the stairs, everything just works fine, so I keep riding, then a few minutes later I go to 180 the stairs again and... i just remember to send it.
At the landing, the steerer tube of my brand new mutiny fork had broken, the kind of thing you don't expect... so I was throw of the bike with bar and stem in hands, roll on my back and Boom ! K.O
I woke up 10 minutes later, with cops and firemans around me, i was really understanding what was happening at that moment, my first worrying was about my bike "where's my bike !?" I had asked like 3 times panicked, a fireman answer me than the bike is broken and cops will keep it (until I'll be fine, cops hasn't just steal my bike), at that moment, i knew that that was that fucking steer tube, then, they bring me to the hospital, I had spend 4 days there, the result, a light head trauma, the two weeks after, I wasn't feeling god at all with a persistent headache and balance losing but now I'm fine, so I consider myself lucky, with all the shits a too big head shock can bring and eventually ruin a life.

So now, and more than ever I am a helmet defender, do whatever you want, but I'll wear mine 100% of the time right now (because this is always the day you don't wear it than you would need it)

The funny side of the story is after I get out of the hospital, when I go to the police station to get my bike back, they were two officers, a 50 years man and a young girl around 25, i see my bike, then the guy ask me what happens, start to tell him, bla bla bla, then the girl say me with an angry face :
"- You know doing bike like you do is forbidden ?
- Yes
- And you keep doing it !? You got places to do that
- Nop, all the park of the city's have been, closed, removed or turned into parkings...
- No there's one... (park)
- Ohhh yeah... the ice rink (the name i gave to the slippiest park ever), i dare you to go there with any bike and do one turn without slip and fall"
(the guy was laughing because he was more on my point of view and his colleague was losing all credibility)
she said "yeah but that's not a reason..." i ended up by saying "So what ? i should play soccer like anybody else ?" and she shut up.

Oh and this is some pictures, the the curious.

The worst part was calling his mom to tell her to come to the hospital. This was around 7 years ago now, so we were early 20s.

He still doesn't wear a helmet unless he is forced.
