Okay so I'm going to run Aitkens on the front, but I need a "fast tire" to run on the back.

Should I go for Animal ASM or Odyssey Hawk?

So I guess I'll go full odyssey then?

Just run an aitken in the back, that's what I do. It's got incredible grip, and I still coast perfectly fine.

If hawks aren't available at my lbs, I might do this.
Thanks

Hawks get punctures all the time. Had a set of tanwalls and I had a punctures all the time. They are grippy for park (if there is no sand or dust on it). They ait good

And honestly a slick tire and a knobby tire just don't look good on a bike. If you have two knobby tires or two slick tires it looks fine though, just not one of each

I checked my lbs website and it says they have Aitken p lytes.
Is that any different from normal Aitkens?

And what exactly would a front/back set of Aitkens or a front/back set of hawks be ideal for

Aitken P-lytes have wire bead, and they're what I run. Screw folding tires. I do a 2.25 front and back, but some people have an 2.25 Aitken P-lyte in the front and an Odyssey Path P-lyte 2.10 in the back and love it

|

Both the Aikten and Path are knobby so it looks fine too

So I know the hawks provide a bit more speed, but what do the Aitkens do?

I ride park and also cruise around the neighbor hood too lol

I ride Aitken's front and back and it's a beast setup.
I'd personally go with either another Aitken or the Hawk.

How about hawks front and back?

You'll roll faster and coast longer but your grip will suffer

Aitkens provide you with all of the grip you'll ever need

They are waaaaay better than kenda kontacts.. And the kenda's only hold 65 psi. Hawks and Aitkens hold 100 psi.. Either way you go they will be better than the kenda's.

I might then go for the hawks front and back.
Thanks you guys!

How about you just ride your bike and when you break parts, replace them.

Learn how to ride first, then worry about upgrades/changes.

I'm running a K-Lyte Aitken on the Back, but only because it was cheaper than a P-Lyte and the same price as a standard Aitken.

Let him do what he wants with his money, and if it gives his bike a more solid/ better feel then good for him. Everyone is so naggy lately

I had a ASM just in the back and i hated it, can't imagine having it front and back. Slick tires for me are just inconvenient because if i wan't to do anything where im landing in grass or anything potentially slick i can't because i'll slide out. I'd much rather have a good all around setup and be able to ride whatever comes my way.

|

Personally i run 2.25 fit faf front and back, sweet tyre. i cant compare it up against the others personally, but they last for over a year and grip extremely well.

Hmm good point.
Someone mentioned kink Lyra.

What if I run a Lyra front and hawk back? Is that a good set up?

The Lyra doesn't look very knobby when compared to the Aitken.
I would get Aitken fronts, but they look too knobby and it will look weird with very knobby front and smooth hawk back.

The Lyra is extremely knobby, I had it before my Aitkens. Just go Aitken Front and back and you'll be good, I seriously love it. And dark blue or black with tan walls looks amazing

So what are some good tires with grip for the front?
The Aitken looks a bit too knobby for my liking, so I would like a front tire that had good grip but doesn't look very knobby so it can blend in with the hawk on the back. that way it doesn't look weird.
