I have been trying to get clean 3s for months now and I've probably landed about 7 of them, if that. One of my biggest problems that none of my friends know how to correct is, I land sort of to the side and I tend to understeer and eat shit a lot. It sucks. Today I did it and fucked up my shoulder pretty bad. It ended the session and made me kinda sad considering I will be getting new parts in about 3 days.

Anyway, how can I keep my weight centered while I spin but still turn my head hard enough to get clean 360s?

More speed , the more air you get the slower and more controlled you can spin

I can understand that logic but it seems like that faster I go, the faster I spin and the more I lose control of my weight and just end up over rotating. That's what happened today.

I got them cleanish going slow, then i tried it off a curb till i got it perfect. It makes you have to land it right.

I've always admired your opinion, Curtis. I'll definitely try this once my shoulder stops hurting. Hopefully by the time I get my new stuff!

I understand everything except landing. I always find a way to screw that up if the spin is 100% clean.

It would help if you could get a clip when your shoulders stopped hurting. Will help pin point where you need help.

Flat or fly out?

Flat or ...more

I will definitely do that once I heal up, I am doing them flat.

But actually all it is is just cranking it. I had bald tires and no grip , so I didnt even carve I just pulled up straight and look over your shoulder ! Fucking twist your hips like Elvis !

Watch and learn , this was the same week I learned them. EDIT : You you pause when I'm exactly 180 , my head is turned and I'm fully looking over my shoulder ; it helps the rotation "Look where you wanna go" and you spot the landing and the bike should follow ! And my front end is dipped when I pull , because I cranked it !

I don't see that as an issue. I would crank harder for a 540. tongue

But seriously, keep trying, maybe get comfy boosting them higher VS farther. Then you can practice adjusting speed of your spin.

I think that my 3s are pretty clean and this is what i do. I go for a medium speed, i compress myself, and put my position like going forward, then i start carving a bit, and when i have like 35º i lift the front wheel as high as i can while i compress my legs, in one motion, while i keep my head turned. I keep my legs compressed for a bit and then discompress them and land it smoothly.
The only problem that i sometimes have is that i can go too forward and land really nose heavy and loose the control, or if i dont calculate the carving properly i could go high as fuck, but the spinning is to slow to clear the 360. In those cases i just jump off the bike.

Flyout are way easier after trying flat for so long! Stocksy, sneak back to wheeling and try flyout threes. They may or may not help you with flat threes but they are fun.

Definitely try it flyout. If you can't for whatever reason, just keep your head turned and try to kick your ass with your back for when you spin. Those are my two biggest pieces of advice

I do fat guy 360s, so I barely get any height anymore haha.

Same with my hop bars. I literally hop bar MAYBE 4 inches off the ground.

Hey man good work, you are still trying it. It can be many things.
like for me i can't 360 flat nicely anymore but i can 360 down stuff easily and clean all the time now for some reason and 360 gaps and flyout gaps. biggest thing i see with my friends is they will stop or keep turning their head at the wrong time. Try and keep it turned till you are almost at full rotation then straighten your body back up as your head does. Not like stand up but stop turning your waist and shoulders.

hopefully this will help a bit.
also main thing i found today for you and got mine alot better was do it exact the same way as you would with a nice high 180 but turn more. As in hop the same way.
keep at it mate and fill us in...bow chicka bow wow

Also Curtis is right. Though i learnt mine going fast. Even though is may be something really small like a curb, your mind tells you that it is something alot harder...bow chicka bow wow

My shoulder is finally healed up so I figured I would make a video showing you what my shitty 3s look like in hopes that you can help me. The falling to the side thing is still a problem but now there is ANOTHER thing that makes me fall which is looping out at 270 or just completely landing in manual. Take a look: http://instagram.com/p/r-F10GAVDx/?modal=true

I could lie to you and say that they usually aren't this bad but they are. After I hurt my shoulder, I haven't been satisfied with the way it looks and feels to go past 180 degrees.

As i keep saying, 360s are all about continuous looking and being able to control your bike. Lightness usually doesn't matter when you can ALREADY do the trick. Since you are learning i really recommend removing a few pegs. It sounds silly and i know someone will bitch about this, but it'll work. Do that and then look all the way around, jack the backend up as high as possible AT 180 and PUSH OUT AND LEAN OVER THE TOPTUBE. I tell you this and tell you this and you need to listen. haha

Ask T-Rider, i tought him...

When I try that, the understeer bullshit happens which made me hurt my shoulder the last time! When I do the correct things, I can't land the way that you're supposed to land!

Super low, usually spin about 330-350 degrees. Not super smooth.

My hop bars have gotten lower and lower to the point that my wheels hit, THEN I catch.

Comes with getting fat and old I suppose. Also riding like 2 times a month.

Try tucking up the rear more. Tends to help with the whole thing-rotation, keeping level, staying centered etc
