Wow that seems like a really smart idea

Personally i wouldnt get it, seems more inconvenient then anything. but basically you just use the seat as leverage

I remember when Kis Bike Co. did this, still wonder the same thing.. how long would it last? I like to crank down on my bolts so I won't be getting this, but just wondering. Seems like it would round out fairly easy since it's just aluminum

I'm pretty sure it has a Chromoly Insert. Also, it annoys me that people giving Wethepeople all this praise for this idea when, as you have mentioned, Kis Bike Co did it a while ago.

I don't think it would, 17mm is a fair amount smaller than the 25.4 your post is, so ultimately you could have about 4-5mm thickness for the socket. I think the idea is there.

Maybe a chromo post would be a better application, but this is actually really really innovative. One less tool to carry.

You could take your bike apart with an allen or two, and this seatpost.

If I ever decide to get a new seatpost, I may consider this.

Same idea as this but a ratchet seat post, it would have a chromoly insert at the end with internals that allow it to work as a standard ratchet set. It would have a sort of button above it (probably some sort of ball bearing like scooters had so you could raise and lower the handlebars) in place of the switch hey normally have, and to put the post in you just oush it down (obviously wont be able to have an extra socket in) and put the post in. or possibly just some sort of push buttons that are built into the post so it doesn't stick out.

And to make it even more overly complex then it already is mid way up the post or by the seat it will have a threaded hole that you can use to screw in handle that it will come with for extra leverage.


Thats it...overly and stupidly complex? yeah. impossible and unnecessary? Probably. a good idea? Maybe if i knew how to explain it better (i probably confused half of you) it would seem like a better idea hah

Doesn't seem like a problem to me. Would work just fine.

So embed a ratchet into the bottom to use a similar setup? Interesting...if this could be done and still be reasonably light it would be AWESOME.

Basically I wouldn't want a 4 lb seatpost full of tools.

A Swiss Army knife seatpost would be awesome though.

I think it is an alright idea. It has no problem with me, i dont like Pivotal Seats though. They get annoying because every now and then they get loose and stuff. And why would you need more than one seat angle? It is a dumb thing. The only real point to them is you dont have to buy a post with each set you get. Personally, i probably wont get another seat until my WONDERFUL Dub X Shadow is completely ruined. haha

But railed seats have more options for angles, plus fore and aft on the seat...?

You guys have seen the animal tool set thing.. Just make that into a post..

I've known about them for almost 2 years now, and from what I understand they're a company based in the UK somewhere. They don't seem to have a North American distributor at all though. They make some pretty clean looking parts, flangeless front hub, flangeless on the non-driveside cassette hub, and invented the socket seat post thing

the angle your seat sits at ? It has a lot of points, some people use their seat to pinch when throwing barspins, if you can fine tune that & have your seat angled differently, it could help.

or different frames with different geometry, a scooter frame you would need to angle it differently to make up for the frame's seat tube pointing backward more, and I know when I went from my Sunday OG frame to the KHE frame, my seat was positioned differently from the geometry being different. if it were a 1 piece combo deal, I'd be screwed cause I HATE when seats are completely flat.
