19mm BB fits 19mm spindles
22mm Bb fits 22mm Spindles
I believe one is called American Bb Spanish Bb Mid Bb and Euro Bb

Most standard bikes have either a Spanish Bb which I believe comes in 22mm or a Mid Bb 19mm? might be wrong though

I think you'll need 15mm Indian bearings.

No, seriously. Gotta get the year and model exactly.

I looked the bike up and it's a one piece crank.. so it's an American, and assuming it's all stock.. this is what you need.

Could be unsealed mid. I've seen them on Diamondbacks. Only Poverty makes unsealed mid though. http://www.danscomp.com/products/455097/Poverty_Carmi_BB_(Unsealed).html

It's american.
Yours also looks unsealed. but You SHOULD be able to fit a sealed bearing BB in there.

Why do you need/want a new BB?

|

4/5/2013 3:25 PM

Looks like unsealed American BB to me.

if its unsealead american then to put an american sealed you would need to get a new spindle http://www.danscomp.com/products-PARTS/455080/Mission_Chromoly_Spindle.html assuming its 8 spline.. technically the spindle on unsealed cranks are 15/16" but a 19 mm should fit... then you need sealed bb... http://www.danscomp.com/products-PARTS/456061/Mechanik_BB_Kit.html this in the american size is what you would need... then you would be set... this is what i did with my unsealed bb and poverty cranks... otherwise you would need the bb sunday said.. the oddyssey http://www.danscomp.com/products-PARTS/455018/Odyssey_Dynatron_1-pc_BB.html hope that helped

Do they not spin anymore at all or do they have some tight spots.

When you pedal backwards its a crunchy sound it makes

Well does it affect your riding, because if it's only some sound you don't need to risk replacing some loose balls.

No but I don't like that sound is it maybe because my bottom bracket is loose

It can be anything, some times chains make a rattling sound when riding backwards.
Just lube up everything and see if there's still the same sound.
If the cranks spin fine I don't see the point in changing the BB.
Post a video if you can, that would help.

Hi bike guru here a lot of times when you pedal backwards it indicates it is a freewheel issue not a bb if you have a freewheel and usually on a loose bb bikes it has a freewheel on the rear hub so get some wd40 and turn the bike on its side a spray the freewheel at the same time pedal the bike while spaying it and I should clean out and dirt in the freewheel and quiet it down. If it quiets it down that was your problem if not the bb needs to be cleaned or checked to see if it has uneven wear on the bb cups from the bearings rotating unevenly or one of the cups are cracked on the bearing race or just dirty from grime and such. Bike guru.

Get some synthetic grease and get those puppys greased.
