What do you think the best type of pedals are any kind metal or plastic pedals? What do you think the worst type of pedals are? Looking for some pedals that will be strong and last a reasonable time, something good for heavy abuse on trails, park, street ect.., I usually ride the stolen thermalite sp pedals i think they have lasted pretty well but i snapped the pedal body and the axle on them the other day at the bike park, they lasted a good 5 months until this. So i replaced them with the odyssey twisted pc pedals, i have had them before and snapped the axel on those as well but because i wanted to keep riding since i just got to the park and they had a shop i bought them. The pcs did not even last a full session probably like 2 hours witch must be some sort of record. The axle on them bent to the point that i can barely even spin the pedal its completely eased up and you have to twist your ankle inward because its bent upward and sideways, they aren't even ride able. So what are the best types of pedals and worst types of pedals?

i like PC because they're cheap, they don't last as long as a decent aluminum bodied pedal but they get the job done. Now, if you ride park/street, get metal pedals.

I prefer plastic, not too grippy on the foot and cheap. You can get plastic bodied pedals with metal pins which I'm getting next

Id like to try metal ones, but i dont have the money now so my next pedals will probably be metal ones.

I go back and forth. I've got Twisted PCs, Premium Slim PCs, and Shadow Nostra metal pedals. I run pc until the pins wear down and then throw the tanks (Nostras are 22 oz.) back on. I'll run the Nostras until I feel like going back to plastic. I wear shin guards, but the metal pedals still hurt with a good shinner. The metal pins grip great though, whereas the pc pins lose their grip rather fast from grinding.

I think I'm gonna try the Stolen Throttle pedals. I fall too much and my metal pegs and Odyssey Par Ends take much of the abuse. I have to file and hammer out my pegs every few weeks because some times I fall so hard it dents the peg in and has big gnashes on the end of the peg that are super annoying and cut my leg sometimes painfully. Budget peg problems..

Im running metal ones now, but thats because, like you, i needed new pedals and didnt want to wait, and halfords has a shit selection of pedals as you can imagine...... shinners hurt like a mofuka with em, and i sometimes get 'locked in' to them when trying to bail/fastplant which is horrible!!!!! but they are useful when im riding street in the winter and its damp. gunna buy some pcs next paycheck, weather is starting to claer up........

why does it matter if you already have them? if i said they were shit and only lasted a couple of months would it stop you from putting them on anyway? doubt it

BTW, plastic bodies with metal pins might be the best.

That's what the Thermalite SP's are. Personally, I like plastic pedals because they're cheaper and less painful when your foot slips off and the pins slam into your shins pinch

Park/street are the two types of riding I'd least want metal pedals for. The only place I could see myself using metal pedals would be riding trails, and even so my plastic pedals do fine doing that.

For people that grind, just use a grind side. The pins on one side of my pedal are perfect for grip, but the other side is used for sliding. I like good grip on my pedals but im not gonna stop grinding on my pedals so its is a good compromise.

Pedals list (best to worst) all plastic

Eclat plaza!!!
2 hip (i dont know the name but the one on the right in the picture is 2hip)
stolen thermalite
cult pc/ruben pc
animal hamilton
odyssey twisted (i fucking hate them)

only metal pedals I've used were the odyssey jim c and I only used them when I was first learning how to ride. Got too many shinners and thats probably why I changed to plastic

Nice nipples.

I personally really like thin pedals, so something like stolen thermalites or premium slims are great for me.

Is there any problems with them durability wise like with the axel or bodies of the pedal breaking, I herd they leak out grease.

I'm running JCPCs for a year and few months and I am more than happy with them. You can ajust how much the grip you want, they don't squeek, no bearings. Ideal pedal IMO.
