I started out on a MirraCo Black Pearl 2.. they are really good bikes, mostly for park and trails though.. but the gambino is really good for street..

I know DK isn't super trendy, but you cannot get a better bike for the money. The DK Helio for example has a 100% chromoly frame/fork and is less than 400 bucks. The bike isn't heavy either. No other company can come close to that.

I'd reccomend one of the Subrosa's. Because it comes with brakes, and they are needed until you get good bike control
