Probably the best trail oriented complete you can buy. The KL40 Expert is also awesome if you don't want to spend as much.

^ This.

I just wanted to mention that the 2014 KL 40 bikes got a few little tweaks that for me really improves the way they feel over the 2013 models. They feel super balanced and smooth.

The KL40 looks like a lot of bike for the $$$.

Honestly a trail setup is anything you think is comfy, I've ridden super short frames and now run a 21.25" with a short back end. It's all about what feels good, not what a company says is "trails"

It's what feels right to you. Everyone has their own opinion. Personally I like short chain stays and a steep head tube and small offset forks for any riding I do.
But for some, my setup would be too "twitchy". But it's what I like. To each their own.

I know. You can still ride trails on it. The CS is longer, and it has 30-10 gearing. Very nice for trails. Also, see Ressler's comment. I think he runs a BTM on trails.

Anything with less than 75 degree head tube angle and longer then 13.5 chain stay is my rule of thumb.

Yessir! I swear it feels a lot longer than it really is, it feels super stable on trails. In my opinion of course.

Good rule of thumb, but I wouldn't say "anything".

You can definitely ride trails on anything... this video is evidence.

At the same time, you can fix just about anything with Vise Grips, but are they really the best tool if you're loosening bolts all day?

Yeah for sure. But I still think that's retarded as hell for fit to put rider's names on bikes, but not the same geo as that riders signature frame. I have a friend who roasts everything on a 20.75 BTM. I'm not saying you need a "trails" bike to ride trails, I just don't want some one to be like "fuck yeah, the BF frame looks sweet, so I'll get the BF frame" and then have a very different frame.

I'm with you on that. It's annoying, at the least, when someone that doesn't fully understand that there IS a difference between frames made for completes and frames made for aftermarket. Fit makes it more difficult using the same names for most of them.
