I'm 5-10 and 170lb, looking to get back on a bike. From all the sizing charts online, it looks like I should be going for something 20.5" to 22" top bar.

Is 20.5" on the short side for me? How can such a small change in top tube length make the bike so much bigger?

I'm looking to get a new bike in the $300-$450 range used for street riding as I'm in the city.

Any suggestions?

Here's what I'm thinking:

20.5":
Black Eye Pistola $310
United RN2 $340
Verde Prism
DK Helio

20.65"
Black Eye Park Pro $440

20.75"
We The People Reason $425
United Supreme SU1 $440
DK Kavant $450

20.8"
Stolen Sinner $380

Thanks!
MCPB.

That's a very wide range of top tubes.. don't get a 22" Top tube.. that would be to long for you.. i'd say get like a 20.75.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking...20.75", but there's so many more to choose from at 20.5"

Well 20.5 is fine im 5'9 and i ride that but...if you do i'd suggest some taller bars... like above 8.5 because you will get a lot of knee knockers.

I'm about 6 foot and ride a 21tt, I would recommend a 21tt or 20.75tt

21 would be to big... BMx bikes are meant to be small.

Welcome to vital! Glad to see more older guys coming back! Yeah, as Fondue said, of those I'd get the WTP. Whatever you get, take a good look at the components you're getting along with the frame. Just as before, full chromo is the way to go.

No it wouldn't, 21" is pretty good for someone 5'10". And 21" is tiny compared to Mountain Bikes and Road Bikes.

Thanks for all the great advice...my last bike was an '87 Performer...wait, no an early '00's Mirra also that I had for a minute.

Ok so in the 20.75" to 21" range (under $450) aside from the WTP Reason...what are my other options?

Haha, my last one before I got back in was a 88 Mongoose Cali Pro. First thing I got was a Redline Column. Too light and just didn't like the feel of the components. Two months later I started my current build.
