Cook up a packet of rice, then dump it on the floor.Spin cranks really fast and put tire on rice.Should clean em right up.

Ok,Im done with rice jokes.

Most people use baking soda and a wet rag/brush to clean colored tires or tan side walls.Takes a few applications and some elbow grease.

Tomorrow your homeless,tonight it's a blast!

Acetone or fingernail polish remover. Just make sure to let it sit on the tire for a few minutes before you start scrubbing

|

Why?

|

2/4/2020 3:11 PM

Once they're dirty they're useless, you need new tyres.

Plastic melts in acetone/nail polish remover (if it melts superglue it’ll melt just about anything else in that spectrum),
Rubber is a type of plastic, are you absolutely sure you aren’t damaging your tires?

I was just joking, I know it damages rubber. As for plastics, there are several common types that hold up just fine to acetone

Rubber comes latex extracted from rubber trees. Plastic from oil. Which kind of plastic is rubber made from again?

The first post definitely didn’t seem like it was a joking manner so yeah. I actually know people who will try this “method” if told about it.

Actually you’ve got it backwards bud, latex comes from rubber. There’s more than one kind of rubber and they’re all polymers (even the “natural” ones). Plastic doesn’t just come in the form that you see LEGO bricks in. There’s a million things you wouldn’t consider “plastic” that are actually plastic. Anything that is a polymer is a plastic and vice versa, including tree rubber and synthetic rubber (note, most rubber you see nowadays is actually synthetic rubber because it’s more easily vulcanized) Rubber is a type of elastomer which subsequently is a type of polymer.
Source: am a machinist and work with polymers a good bit, yes, rubber is machinable to an extent.

So you’re saying that because plastic and rubber are both polymers, they’re both plastic? A poodle is a type of dog, and a bull terrier is a type of dog. Therefore a poodle is a bull terrier.

You aren’t getting it at all. Rubber is a type of plastic, but not the same kind of plastic as conventional plastic. It’s still a polymer. Polymer and plastic mean the same thing. Polymers melt when exposed to acetone.

Nah, I get it. Polymer and plastic do not mean the same thing. Did you know DNA is a polymer? Starch is also a polymer. So is sugar, and also proteins. All polymers aren’t plastics.

i take a shit, dont wipe (at ALL. really important) then i go to my garage, and spread my cheeks. then i have one of my friends spin the cranks around so the back wheel is spinning really fast, and press it right to my asshole. sends poop flying everywhere but most importantly? it flies out of my crack. clean as a whistle. then, and ONLY then, am i allowed to ask my girl for a rusty trombone. better for the environment than douching

Technically yes. Plastic and polymer are still synonymous though (science says so). Polymers are macro molecules full of many repeating subunits which 95% consists of plastics including rubber.

And? I never said plastics aren’t polymers. And just because plastics and polymers are synonymous, that doesn’t mean all polymers are plastics. Hoovers and vacuum cleaners are synonymous in the UK, but not all vacuum cleaners are hoovers. Biro’s and ball point pen’s are synonymous, but not all ball point pens are Biro’s. Plastics have plasticity, rubbers have elasticity. Some polymers share the characteristics (polyurethane for example), but not all polymers are plastics. I think you get this now, but just aren’t willing to admit it.

Yes I understand, what I’m saying is that so much of polymers consist of plastics that it basically is the same thing. I’m referring to it like this for communications sake so it doesn’t branch into off-topic. (Not that this matters honestly it’s become a joke thread)

Also, science doesn’t determine whether two things are synonymous or not. Language does.
