Almost any headset will fill, but as for the best one have a look around and see what is on special. tip: get an integrated headset as this will protect from dust and grime and just looks and feels better. at the moment i have a New Salt Plus int headset, sealed bearing. and ive had it for about 3 years and its still like the first day ive had it! some other good headsets/brands are primo, colony, shadow conspiracy, eclat and odyssey.

all i could find on the headset i like the most is this... (the primo headset)
Precision 45/45 sealed integrated headset
Large aluminum top cap
10mm stack height internal 0-ring
Laser-etched Primo logos
Weight: 62g

and yeah all intergrated headsets have the same size. and yeah sorrry i know it was just a copy and paste mistake haha smile
and the only thing you need to worry about is if you need headset spacers so buy some just in case.
putting on headsets can be a bit frustrating but its fairly easy! Just look up some youtube tutorials and you will be set!

Still going good your 3 year Salt pro int? You ride in 100% dry and controlled conditions, right?

My one year is already showing signs of wear.

Rust on lower bearing, grimy rolling.

The best thing is that you can still take an Integrated headset and bearings apart, repack the bearings with grease, and have a good as new one!

It doesn't matter where a train goes. It's decidin' to get on that does.

that link to chainreactioncycles will help you alot so have a look at that as well, and no my bike gets wet, im an intermaide bmx rider so my headset/bike does go through a bit of a stress from drops/360's/airs ect you get the point.
i do take good care of my bike though, clean it when it becomes to dirty, and when something is making a weird sound i try to fix it asap (i keep my bike inside as well at night)
if you headset is a bit rusty then get a new on for sure, you can degrease, clean and then regrease headsets and that helps alot... but if you're has rust then just buy a new one. go for a threadless integrated headset, it will be better quality and will last longer and less maintaince.
(check out the chainreactioncycles link)

You will need a standard headset danscomp has some. Integrated headsets have the cups built into the frame. Standard headsets have cups that need to be pressed in. You can get this headset that allows you to use integrated bearings https://www.danscomp.com/products-PARTS/301014/Mechanik_STI_Sealed_Headset.html
