I have a high end complete and if I keep changing out parts with aftermarket parts, will the durability on reliability be on par with a custom built bike? Or at least very close?

It will be about the same if you swapped stock parts with aftermarket parts when they break or something. The only difference would be the frame depending on if its chromo or hi-ten

That kinda makes it a custom setup.

But yea, upgrade with better stuff.

If the frame is full chromoly and there is no hi tensile steel then yes its just as good

its theoretically just as good. it may be practically just as good now. "as good" depends on what you need or what your level of riding is going to utilize. if someone only drives to the post office on wednesdays and never goes above 35mph than a honda civic is practically just as good as a corvette. if you haven't broken it its good enough now. i was just talking about this on fb. I've wasted tons of money over the years "upgrading" parts that in most cases didn't need it. i wish i hadn't - id be richer.
