Just wondering if you can use the wax used for waxing skis and snowboards on ledges. I've got a bunch of it and I don't know if it's worth it to buy skate specific wax if ski wax will work just fine. Recipes for candle based wax are also appreciated.

Nope, ski wax is for skis only. Can’t grind stuff on a bike if you waxed it with skateboard wax either.

Grind wax is slightly different as it has more oils in it that make it slicker then a candle but it should work just fine

I believe in hub guard protection

I"ve used a waxed paper cup (big gulp or whatever) to rub a rail or ledge. The wax from the cup worked well, in a pinch.

Don’t forget to wax it before it rains too, that way it seeps in the ledge and you get a nice resin-like texture to it.
