I have an Oddyssey Bluebird 510 chain and I found a 410 masterlink for it that I'm now using on it... will it be ok.. if I need a 510 masterlink I can get one from my LBS but if the 410 will work I'd prefer not to get a 510 masterlink. Thanks in advance!smile

410 isn't as chunky, so I'd be surprised you got it to fit. Master links suck balls anyway, you should be absolutely fine not using one with a 510 chain

Ok thanks... the 410 masterlink seems to be a little big on my 510 actually, but I'm sure it will be fine.. I just don't want it to snap or whatnot while I'm riding cause I don't want to be walking home lol....

If you don't want it to snap, don't use it! Any time I've ever used one it's fallen apart and ended the session (hence I haven't used one for 20 years or so!)

Ok, thanks then... that sucks you've had so many problems with masterlinks.... I've always used masterlinks on my motocross dirtbikes and I've never had a problem with them... yet grin

If it's a 410h or hx master link its probably a little wider. If it's working now, it should be fine though. I wouldn't worry about it.

it should be fine, as long as it's working properly it should hold up just like any normal master link would

also for what it's worth, I've never once snapped a master link. my current one is almost 4 years old and been through 2 different chains now

I guess when I broke master links was back when gearing was 44 16, so you'd land on your chain a lot more doing grinds. It only takes a small dink to knock the clip off
