Hi,

I want to get a cheap BMX for racing around the hilltop village and down to the beach where I live. I know you are all going to tell me to spend more and get something decent but for now I just want something to get about on.

I'm confused by some of the specs on some of the bikes I've looked at..

Here's the current list:
http://www.ebay.es/itm/Bicicleta-BMX-Freestyle-360-PROFESIONAL-doble-DISCO-/120940137036?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_186&hash=item1c28980a4c (I'm in Spain)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Exodus-Grind-Alloy-Freestyle-Bike/dp/B003NVM8ZS/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top (Alloy Frame)
http://www.bikes2udirect.com/B2921.html?specs=1 (Wanted Skyways when I was a kid)

I don't get the frame sizes though.. they are quoted as 11" or 12" but these don't even appear on the size charts.

I'm 5ft 10 about 11 stone if that makes any difference.

Thanks for any help,
xgarb

if you want a bmx bike for travel, get a volume sledgehammer. its a hardtail single speed 26 inch bike, but it's made by a bmx company

I have nothing against pegs at all, I don’t think you’re dumb if you ride pegs, I don’t care about your pegs, they are just pegs! What I do hate is the fact that every person in BMX hops on this bandwagon of three pegs, and beanies, and weed, and hop-over grinds… It’s just sad that the pros who influence kids are more worried about looking cool than the kids themselves! It’s crazy!-Trey Jones

Thanks for your responses. I did think about getting something bigger.. I have a MB here that I can use but as you can see from the pics above a little bike will be better for zooming around on.The beach is only about 10 mins on foot so I won't get totally knackered cycling on a BMX.

I've got some more money to put towards it so have some better bikes on the list now:

http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/36713/DiamondBack_Grind_Bike_2011_
http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/diamondback-venom-20-inch-bmx-id60876.html (dunno if Diamondback are the brand they used to be)
http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/44542/Felt_Chasm_2012_BMX_Bike (It's nice but I can't see myself spending this amount.. would worry about it being pinched)

The other option I have is the bike shop in the town I live in has these in stock: http://www.malcolmrathmellsport.com/monty-bmx.htm (it's a Spanish brand I think) which because of the exchange rate might be a good price (I get paid in Pounds). I have no idea about the spec though.

Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I think I'd prefer a smaller bike as it'll make it easier to get around where I live (narrow streets.. lots of steps.) I have a MB here for the longer journeys.. the beach is only 10mins walk so not a problem on a BMX.

go to The House BMX and get a Sapient. They arent good if you do heavy BMXing, but for just riding, you can get a decent bike for $100 USD
