Ive heard its a good hub, and its a decent enough price on Dan's comp. Any known longterm problems with this hub? how well does it hold up to heavy riding, and by heavy i mean somebody HEAVY on a not 22 pound bike(its 26 pounds atm)

guys i started a thread and i got a bunch of trolls that do nothing but talk crap on my bikes and talk nonsense so i was jw if anybody can tell me about this custom bike i got its a colony phantom and here are the parts:

I'm going to throw my opinion out there since I have owned both front and rear Wasp Hubs **The only negative thing about the hub is at the end of this reply**
The Colony Wasp Hubs are a super solid set of hubs, yes they can be LOUD AS FUCK but only after being fully broken in and being re greased, otherwise they are a decently quiet hub. The engagement is amazing, it has never skipped on me when I owned them and if I was not hooked on a freecoaster I'd buy them again for the bike I am hoping to build this summer. The price is amazing as well. I myself weigh over 200 lbs and this hub still rode perfectly.
Alright so, referring to one of the things I said, the loudness.
When I got my wasp hubs, as the factory wheelset which were laced to Colony Pinnacle (Front) and Colony Pintour (Rear) rims, the very first thing I did was I took out the driver and re greased the DRIVER ONLY with "Tri Flow Superior Dry Lubricant", that lubricant is super thin but really really effecient, this made my Wasp Cassette SCREAM though, so I would suggest a light amount of thicker grease if you wanna quiet it down, I suggest a lighter amount of thick grease because of the extra teeth on the pawls would possibly make them slip I think.
Lastly the ONLY negative thing about them is the protruding section of the female axle, I have had problems with wheel slip with pegs, but that was fixed with a 14mm washer in between the peg and dropout because that just gives more room to tighten the hub down.

I'm not a fan of the hub at all! Max has one and I don't like it. But I don't really like Colony products in general. I don't think they make bad stuff, it's just not as good as others.
Max says he loves his Wasp but I do not. I like quick engagement but this thing's engagement is weird. It is engages so fast that if you try to get on the bike and quickly accelerate, it will skip. I'm not sure if that is just a fluke and only Max has that problem but I wouldn't risk it.
I suggest you get something else.

Personally i really like how it feels and rides. All cassettes will skip eventually so idc if it skips sometimes
Due to how many little things it has on the ratchet ring, when it skips it isn't hell. Its just like a tiny pop.

Probably greased it too much or the pawls are still breaking in . Does it have ghost pedal? My hub on the CK still has it.

My friend had that problem aswell. The shemale nub is 4-5mm so if you dont have thicker dropouts, you need a washer or file the axle (which i did for my friend.)
Anyway, hubs seem amazing for park/trails. Wouldn't ride them for street with grinds and fakie lines though.

My cassette has never skipped on me once. And its a cheapo semi sealed oem hub with dk laser etched on the shell, but its not a dk alpha hub.

I am sure that if i got new springs it would not skip ever. haha I may double up the springs for fun but idk yet.
I had a Cult match with double springs and that would skip every once in a while.
The neat thing about this hub is the teeth in the ratchet ring are SO small and when it skips it isn't terrifying.

I have this hub and what to double spring it, what springs would I need and how, at the skatepark some people reckon you can't use the Sam spring u need to have a different one so it fits inside the normal spring

For future reference, check the date of the thread before posting.
To answer your question; As long as the hub is a 36 hole and the rim is a 36 hole, then yes, it can be laced. Just remember, spoke length is the main thing you have to keep in mind.
