Comfortable but not good

I've been told I look comfortable and , "I know how to ride a bike". I love biking. But trick wise , I'm not THAT great. Hell , I rarely , if ever , crash. I can 180 up , down , off things. I can 360 (HUGE if I'm in the mood) , 3 tap flat , grind a bit , and almost tailwhip. Is this the case with everyone else? Maybe it's just me thinking weird , but it feels like I can do more , yet I can't , you know?

How long have you been riding exactly? I think most of us get to a point where we've dialed all the basics and learned a few more advanced tricks. I think you're there now. You've got all the confidence in the world right now, take advantage of that.

Hmhm. Actually riding , about 2 summers. Thats when I really bike , but I don't really try to get good , I just have fun and chill with friends. It's just that , getting from comfortable at doing basics tricks , to attempting advanced tricks seems like a huge gap. Thanks though man !

Yeah. no rush to get better, it's all for fun. But doing tricks is what makes it fun. Increase in trick bag is increase in fun. Don't ever break your balls on speed at which you learn shit though.

In about 2 years, I might try tailwhips. Depends on how much I up the ante.

Winter is going to kill me. Canadian winters are harsh. You pretty much re-learn everything the following summer sad

I actually try to work on style more than tricks. I like doing stuff different or against everyone else. So you think that would be bad or what? Probaly learning more tricks than adding my own flavour would make more sense.

Well done bro, style is important tho, its not all about tricks, watch Rubens parts in that etnies grounded dvd, you'll see what I mean.

I've been riding street for 18 months now, and I'm kinda in the same boat, I've got a few more basic/intermediate tricks than the ones you mentioned tho so if you haven't got any of these already maybe pick a few from the list below to work on to help bridge that gap between the basics and the more advanced stuff.

Some more basic / intermediate tricks...

Halfcabs
Fullcabs
540 cabs
Nollies
Faki bhops
Nollie 180
180 nose bonks
360 nosebonks
Wallrides
Wallride 180
5taps
7taps
Manual 180
Manual bonk 180
180s into and out of grinds
Tire rides on rails & ledges
Switch tricks & oppo grinds
180 backwards manuals
360 gturns
Nose manuals

Also like he said above start linking tricks you have got into lines using manuals, try an nollie into grinds, anything you want really.

I'm in the same situation. I just started 180bars bank to bank the other day. Surprisingly easy on a mellow bank. I get 3/4s the bar and then take my foot off. Hopefully ill get em over time. The bank is 2min from my house so I have all the practice time in the world lol.

You do mean like a hop 720 with a bit of pivot right?

@jacobf i think he means like a 3 tap to 3 tap, it isnt hard. Sometimes i feel like i could do more tricks, but then i realize that i just need to expand on the tricks i can do. Do them bigger, cleaner, harder, etc. If you can only 3 tap, get them so you land 2 tires at the same time, pop them higher. Try to learn fakies for a longer distance, watch some more creative riders and you may have a little inspiration to do different stuff with what you have. And if you live in Canada, try and find a warm, dry place to ride flatland in the winter. That isnt that hard to do.
