I know I don't really post much in a serious way but this is more or less just so that some of my Skype friends and other internet homies can know what happened to me.
I was riding on Sunday and I was having a good time and then the thought of trying a backflip kind of came into my mind once again after seeing one of my friends do one. I think I mentioned it or he mentioned it and the discussion started. He ended up telling me that he thought I had it and everyone around proceeded to say the same. Deep down, I knew that I could do the flip because I had done one before on resi and I really don't think they're that hard but I was scared. I didn't think I was going to do it until my friend said, "You know that if you don't do it, you're going to think about it right before bed and it's going to bug you so much." And he couldn't have been more right. So I gave it 2 run ups for speed and then I took my phone out and told Keith to film because I was definitely about to try a flip.I tried it and this happened. As you can see if you watched the whole video, I over rotated the flip, landed on my back and smacked my head off of the ground hard enough to knock myself out while wearing the certified Bell Faction helmet. After coming back completely, I began talking about the hospital, whether or not I should go, should I drive home, blah, blah, blah. After about 45 minutes of drinking water, talking to my friends, and sitting down, I determined that I was good enough to drive home. So I did.
I drove home, without telling my parents what happened. (For those of you who don't know, I am 16.) I come home, I tell my parents and they're mad that I tried to flip on concrete and they're even more mad that I drove home but none of that really matters so I won't go into great detail about all of that bullshit. My dad drives me to the hospital. I feel tired, light-headed, a little dizzy at times, and I keep getting off and on headaches. They determined that I had a concussion and sent me to get a CT scan to make sure there weren't any fractures in my skull or internal bleeding. No surprise to me, the CT scan looked fine. They just determined that I hit my head really really hard and I have a concussion.
2 days after the accident, I am feeling better than I did that night but I still feel "off" and I am getting headaches a good bit. This isn't my first concussion so I know that this is something that I should expect. I go to see a specialist tomorrow to see the full extent of the concussion and how long I'll be off the bike. In the mean time, I'm going to try to start being online more. Mostly Skype but I'll try to get on here as much as I can as well. I still don't remember anything from the time I was pedaling in the beginning of the video until I woke up on the ground. I'll keep you guys updated with what the specialist says tomorrow.
