I'm wanting to build a 1/4 pipe and a fun box. Nothing crazy, prob 5ft 1/4 and a 4 ft fun box. Wondering how much each would cost (materials). Would like some ideas and maybe some blue prints. I've got the general consent, ive got all the tools etc and plenty of land, it's all dirt tho I've got 120 acres. Would it be ok for them to sit on dirt? I know I would need treated wood.

If I had that much land I'd just build trails! It's more labour intensive but free

Yeah I've thought of that, but the top layer is decent dirt then its some clay crap and its hella hard to dig lol.

I built a 4 foot quarter that is 8 felt wide and it cost me 400 dollars in wood and screws and nails. I do live in Canada so keep that in mind. I also got the metal coping for free so that saved me some money. I built a ledge that is 8 feet long and 1 foot high (in hindsight it is way too low) and it cost approximately 80 dollars again with the metal free. If you go onto youtube and type in manual labor ride channel there will be a playlist that shows you how to make a quarter pipe and it really does help.

Clay makes the best trails!

And the 'it's hella hard to dig' statement is why people that build trails don't like it when folks that don't dig, show up and ride without putting in work....

As for ramps, the cost is going to depend on the cost of lumber in your area. Paint will help protect the wood from the weather and can sometimes be cheaper than buying treated lumber.

Personally, I"d build trails... rent a tractor for a day and you can move a lot of dirt. Then you just need to hand shape it with a shovel.

But clay would make the trails BETTER.

Seriously. Clay on top is prime. Use regular dirt to get it set up and dial in how you want your lines, then cover in clay and pack down well, then you have some SOLID trails.

I would build some trails and maybe build a mini (assuming you can swing it) and have it be intertwined with the trails, so hip in, alley oop air, hip out etc.

As to the quarter, depends on width. At 5 feet, I would say aim for 10-12 feet wide (or wider if you can afford it).

That would be roughly 10-12 feet of transition- so around 12-16 2x4s there, roughly 6-7 sheets of ply for the sides and transition, if you want a deck that would add around another 6-8 2x4s, plus supports underneath-maybe 3-5 2x4s. Can't forget the deck ply, so around another 2 sheets depending on if you want it 4 feet deep.

So all together:
about 8-10 sheets of ply (to leave extra for errors etc)
around 28-30 2x4s
A huge box of screws
Paint-regardless of green treatment, paint it. It customizes is, and protects.
Put the ramp on concrete footings if you can-it will last a LOT longer. If it sits on dirt in the weather, you will get maybe 3-5 years if you get a decent amount of rain where you are. If you are out in the desert, not as needed but still a good idea-at least to make it sturdy. I live in Minnesota and had one with non-treated wood last 11 years outside in the snow and rain and heat and humidity by putting it on concrete.

My suggestion isnt exactly legal but best for the price... Go around to construction sites and take plywood thats just lying around. Obviously go when they arnt working

Trust me bro, if I ride someone's jumps, I'll fix them up and I'll help dig. Wish I had more friends that rode that would come out and help me build jumps etc, cuz by myself that shit would take years! Lol

Haha i have, but i will say if you dont want to "steal" any wood you can go to the construction site ask for the foreman or project suprivisor and ask if theres any extra materials they wouldnt mind giving to you. If the guys a dick just ask one of the other enmployees. Most guys will give you something .

Why not ASK the construction site managers if you can have scraps? Worst case you have a ton of firewood, best case you get several FULL SHEETS of ply and a ton of 2x4s. A lot of times they throw extra away.
