So today at work (work at a bike shop) a kid came in wanting his brakes adjusted cause they stuck. I fucked with them for like 30 minutes and could not get them to work, they'd tighten but wouldn't sprint back. luckily he had another set of brakes so I tried them and they sprung back, so it was for sure not me putting them on wrong. The springs looked okay and he said he didn't want them so he gave em to me for free.

I'm not interested in riding brakes really but it'd be nice to have them if I ever changed my mind, got bored & wanted to ride them or got in trouble for no brakes.. so I wanna try and make them work or figure out what's wrong.

I googled them and can't find out which version they are, but also saw the spring/cap design is different than every other one. (see pic below) so could it be he just misplaced the spring/cap parts & the ones he had weren't compatible, or what? Cause I'm honestly stumped and don't know

Mine have this style spring/cover, too. Probably the wrong ones.

well you work in a bike shop so im pretty sure you know what your doing but my guess is that the springs in the inside could of popped out or seezed up

It looks like he tried to replace lost caps with generic ones off some cheap brakes. You're right, i don't think the parts are right for that brake. He probably got them off someone else for free or something.

it's not the springs either, just tried my old Evo II springs and none of them work either, guess they need a specific style or something
