Dislocated my left shoulder...

After all the talk of separated shoulders and my previous shoulder injury, I think I was jinxed. Lol
Anyway, Im gonna schedule a doctors visit today and try to get x-rays of my left shoulderand an MRI hopefully soon after. I did damage my bad knee in yesterday's accident as well, so maybe Ill try to get that looked at along with my other bad shoulder...

I used to have to sleep on my left side because it hurt alot to sleep on my right shoulder, now my right shoulder is the clear choice. Funny how things switch up on you.

Im really hoping this is not going to require surgery, I have a severe lack of range of motion and pain if I move it at all. Shortly after it happened, I popped it back into place and I was able to move it but this morning my body really told me to immobilize it. Im in a sling at the moment.

For anyone interested, I recorded some footage from the day of riding and I also got a little bit of the crash on video. Im sad to say it wasnt even a trick I crashed on, I was trying something out to see if it would work in a line and didnt even get a chance to try the line...lol

Enjoy my pain!

Oh man that sucks dude! It's always the stupid shit that gets us. Hope it gets better fast. Riding was looking good and that spot seems cool too.

Curious what you use to film with? Is it your phone? Quality is good and the mic seems to pic up your voice well.

That was my right shoulder that I was complaining about. This recent injury is my left shoulder. I plan on including my right shoulder and my left knee since i hit it pretty bad too, turns out...

Damn, that sucks bro.. Seems like the worst shit always happens on some of the least shit.. I.e. you weren't going fast/hard/high when you went down. It's amazing how just a slight move can screw you up for permanent. I tore my ACL downhill skiing, and I was just going slower dicking around with a small mogul when it happened.

Nice riding up to that point though..

Hopefully you heal quickly and possibly get a couple other things straightened out too..

Good luck yo!

Thanks man. It was a strange set of 3.

1:
That was the 3rd time I went there recently.

1st time- Got a flat immediately, after like 2 hours of searching for the spot.
2nd time- Perfect day...but 4 skaters dominated the spot and I didnt feel it was right to barge in in their session.
3rd time- Great day, bit of progress on some things I had wanted to do and then this happened.

2:
This woman I work with has been telling me for the past 3 weekends. "Dont break anything"

3rd week rolls around, this happened.

3:
The time I ate shit, was the 3rd "feeler" attempt. I was seeing how it would feel to hop from the back pegs into the bank and how fast I needed to go to clear my rear tire...I went too slow the first 2 times and I gave a kick to get extra speed on the 3rd try, this happened.

I know its just a coincidence or me just forcing the dots to connect but its still pretty weird.

Its a noname camera from china actually...lol

I dont remember where I got it but I do also use my phone. My phone is lower quality looking but I mostly use it when I travel super light or forget to charge my camera. My phone is an LG Stylo 4.

Brutal. Heal up quick, hope it's not as bad as it felt.

Remember when you could ride all day and not be sore for a week?

Ouch! Get well soon.

I will be praying for you. I hope the docs can help fix you up and heal you up and get back at it.

Update: I have been to the doctor and she is referring me to ortho. Its a place where they know me well from previous injuries so thats cool. I can move my arm and I have been rotating my arm every once in a while to keep it from freezing up while I wait to see whats actually wrong.

I actually was able to use my left arm to put my seatbelt on today. I wasnt able to do that just yesterday, so Im improving!

Thank you all, sincerely, for your best wishes! I hope to be riding shitty again soon!

Heal up dood. It's always those crashes that don't look spectacular that get you!

It's the little things that gets you. Bailing from airing a 6 foot quarter to flat no problem though. Or better yet falling from a 6 foot quarter to your back flat from a double peg stall.

Dude! Take this injury seriously, I honestly suggest taking a few years off and focusing on building up your shoulders strength before even thinking about riding or yanking anything around because if you don’t you’ll end up like me and you don’t want to live that life

Testimony and apologies

I want everyone to know that Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of your sins, he went to hell for three days and defeated death and rose from the grave on the 3rd day.

What would Jesus say: I didn't die for you to live like this!

Should have let go of the bike.

Wear gloves and always let go of the bike in those situations, less chance of injury.

Couple of things after watching the video:

I enjoyed watching your stuff. That was some really good riding. Thank for posting that. You've got a lot of skilz. Is that a motorcycle helmet or do they make full ones like that for BMX... Just curious about what kind that is.. I gotta find your bike check on here. Unless you wanna link it. I can't remember if I've seen it or not.

It's a bummer you hurt your shoulder..... Hopefully it heals up quick. Probably no clapping behind the back for you for a while. LOL. Ugh.

That fall you did looks a lot like each time I try to ride wheelie. I torqued my knee twice and I stopped trying them for now. LOL.

Do you work for the post office?

I definitely should have let go sooner but I had no idea my left foot was so far away from the peg. I thought I was just going to roll down but to my surprise, my left foot made contact with the ground. I did throw the bike at the last second. My left hand made contact with the ground and leveraged my arm out of the socket.

Again, I really wish I got more footage of the crash. It would be so much easier to explain to the doctors what happened if I could just show them. Lol

Im assuming you have struggled through multiple dislocations? Ive heard its much easier to happen times after the first dislocation. I am scheduled for an orthopedic specialist for this tues. Im hoping to hear good things. I will push for an MRI regardless of what they say. Thank you for the advice. I dont think Im patient enough to not ride for years, unfortunately. I will play by ear and take this seriously though.

I do work for the post office, good eye!

The helmet is a Fox Pro frame downhill mtb helmet with some cool anti-smash-the-brain tech built in. I actually did a short first impression/mini review of the helmet on my channel.

Thank you for the compliments! While I was editing it I really wish I would have tried to do an abubica to fakie, fakie hop no footer on the opposing bank...I will go back and get that. Its a really fun spot, just wish it had some grinding options.

Ya, my bad knee (before this crash) is the reason why I avoid learning longer manuals. It really hurts to lock the knee in that middle position to balance the manual. Also really hurts to loop out and land on my feet.

I feel you.

Well, my worry of possible surgery and lomger recovery time has been solidified.

I spoke with the orthopedist and after some tests and x-rays he requested an MRI. Thats the good news.

I was worried my insurance company was going to refuse since this was an off-the-job injury. In the past I always had to PROVE I couldnt heal on my own by completing 12+ physical therapy sessions over the timespan of around 6wks and showing lack of improvement.

I got approved yesterday for the MRI. Cool.

The bad news is the orthopedist told me approximately 70-80% NEED corrective surgery after a single dislocation since it is most likely the injury caused ligaments and tendons to stretch and never return to 100%.

This is nowhere near my first major injury, its probably around my 10th or so...lol Im not scared of the surgery, I'm scared of the deep depression, lack of mobility, drastic change in lifestyle while recovering. I hate that, I know its part of the game and injury is always right around the corner when doing the things we choose to do but it still sucks when it becomes reality.

Also, to add to it. Co-workers constantly tell you things like "you're not 17 anymore", "sell your bike and grow up", "you're an adult, not a child", "you need to think of your family and stop doing that kind of stuff" etc...

It's frustrating to have to always defend an active lifestyle to people that don't understand how important this kind of activity is to the type of person we are. This is how we STAY happy even though the ups and downs are much more drastic than a desk-type personality lifestyle.

Im a bit frustrated, I felt another wave of true progression flowing through me and it was squandered by a really dumb moment that I didnt think through before trying. Always the dumb shit that gets us.

Anyway, I will update as I find out new info for those who are interested. Thank you for the support, this forum is an uplifting place.

Better to take time to recover properly, suffer stupid comments from coworkers, and come back strong on the bike in a few months, than to fuck your shoulder up even more and stop riding bikes altogether.

Good luck
