Well, I'm building a bike and getting an eclat rear hub. Is it worth getting an eclat front hub or just a different cheaper hub.

Just get the eclat, if you ever want to sell the wheelset then you'll get a decent price for em plus you'll have a wheelset you can trust.

to do a dull thing with style
is preferable to doing a dangerous thing

Heh. I mean , yes and no. They take abuse as with all parts but as long as you get a decent one its fine. They take way less stress then back hubs , and are way more simple. Just get what you want.

Idk... Let me ask you.... Do big toes matter? I mean does it really matter if you are missing 1 or 2 teeth? A hub is part of a working system.. yes it matters

i get what you are saying. To a point, yes. They dont affect the riding very much, but they affect really how easy it will be to fix your wheel and your whatever else. I think it is smart to get a hub with nice bearings, hopefully a female axle, and you are set. I run a normal sealed front hub, nothing special and i have no trouble. But a lot of my friends and my brother had trouble with stripped axles, bearings doing weird stuff, all kinds of stupid stuff. So they do matter to a point. They just hold up better when you get better ones.

Yes & no, as long as it has sealed bearings & a heat treated axle/axle bolts, it will last you.

Take the Shadow Raptor hub for instance, it's $72, but the Mission Stalwart hub is $45. both have 6902 bearings, aluminum hardware, chromoly center axles & bolts, and also low flanged. Difference is likely the material it's made out of though, but if you buy a hub guard, it wont matter since you're not grinding on the shell. Bottom line is, one is nearly $30 more & both will perform just as well.

I don't know. Does a frame really even matter?

Bearings or no bearings? That is a question.
