Drivetrain Problem!

Yesterday, I snapped my Shadow V2 half link chain. Shadows are the only chain i've ever run on my bike, until today... I'm broke at the moment so I picked up a full link KHE 410 chain because it was cheap. When I put it on and went to ride it, it started making a weird noise. The noise has never occurred with my shadow chain before. I do not think my sprocket is bent either. I have heard though, that Shadow chains will ruin your drivetrain so you always have to run them.. is that what happened?

It's not too tight. I had it a lot tighter with my shadow chain and I didn't have this problem. 1/2 of slack maybe?

I just realized I didn't grease it..... that's probably it.

Maybe, but you should still loosen the chain a bit, just to see

Hey the chain could be around on the wrong side, some of the kmc's have more taken out on one side to make it revolve easier

The first breath is the beginning of death

Eventually it will stop.... everytime I change my chain it does that.

Thanks everyone, I finally figured it out. I flipped my chain around and I think it did help a little but that wasn't it. It was actually because I have 2 plastic primo dsg guards ghetto rigged on the outside of my frame because both of them did not fit. When, I loosened my chain it didnt really make the noise, then I tightened it and it was doing it again. I then realized that the guard was on an angle and the back was just barely rubbing the spokes/ hub because I didn't have enough washers under the guard.

Yeah, everytime I replace my chain it sounds like ass for a few hours, or sometimes a few days. Its horrible, but it should go away.

your suppose to use one chain with you hub because when your train stretches it wears down the driver so its fit for that chain just an fyi

It could be the new chain bedding into the old worn driver/sprocket
