Experienced Wheel lacers?

If they're all like that & all the same spokes, all the same lengths, it's fine.

if only 1 sides threads are showing, but the other sides are showing, I'd guess that it's dished, meaning the rim sits cocked to one side more than the other side. just loosen the side with no threads showing in intervals of quarter/half turns, and do the same on the side with threads showing, only tighten that side.


A little bit is fine if they're shorter nipples but if they're longer nipples then it might be an issue cause that means the spokes might not be long enough for the wheels

Upon further inspection I notice it seems to be a problem only with my red spokes... I'll post a pic. In fact out of all my red spokes... there is only 1 red spoke which I can't see the threads too.

It's barely noticeable but It just bugs me because I'm looking at it haha =P

it looks fine, as long as you're sure they're the right length then it's fine. your spokes probably just have more threaded area for longer nipples, I'll post photos in a second.

this is a random wheel I have, shorter nipples. I bet if I took the nipple off & put it on my wheel, threads would show cause my spokes came with longer nipples

Ah I see what you mean =P The spoke went pretty far into the nipple so I guess it'll be alright

yeah no problem! just make sure you keep an eye on them for the first few weeks of riding it, spokes stretch & need to bed into the hub shell making them need tightened occasionally. If you stay on top of it though, it'll stay true at least

Personally, I always tighten my spokes starting from one certain spoke and I tighten there, skip 3 spokes, tighten, skip 3, tighten, etc. And when I lace, I always hand tighten all of my spokes first in the same manner just to be safe. I hate having to do a lot of truing so just take the longer but maybe easier way out.

I do this, hand tighten so they are as even as I can, then I start up by doing 1/4 turn per spoke all the way around untill they are tight, then I spin the wheel and check for wobble/hop, and true as needed.
