FBM WARLORD

Anyone have experience with an FBM Warlord? A local dude wants to swap my Federal Lacey for it, my Federal Drop bars for Odyssey Spacebars V2, and my Federal Liquid fork for what looks like an Odyssey F25 (or at least an older version of it).

I'm content with the bars and fork (as long as it is not one from like 2004 haha) but I can't seem to find much for reviews on the frame. I know it was both a complete AND an aftermarket frame (2012 version) from what I did find.

Thanks folks!

I personally I wouldn't, you got a good matching setup. Also your stuff is probably in better condition than his.

From the photos, it's pretty comparable as far as condition goes. I honestly want a fork with 990 mounts that matches either the bars (I think they are both black) OR chrome ones. The other option I have is selling other crap to get a chrome fork with 990 mounts. FRONT BRAKES! WOOO!

My 990 fork was rawed, and is a like 11 mm offset odyssey flatland fork, so with a 75.5 ht it gets a little squirrely.

I'll take that as a no, no one has experience.

Bringing this back up cause he mentioned wanting to swap again. Turns out he just wants a chrome frame, but is willing to swap bars and forks to make it happen.

I am debating it again, just because it would be a solid setup, AND get me taller bars and a 990 fork without a ridiculous offset.

It would be this frame specifically:

And it would have all my red parts on it (at least for now, unless I can find a local to swap with me or buy em so I can get some new stuff)

I COULD put an S&M Tuffman on it in black, and my uber-old ORIGINAL Shadow Topload Stem that was rattled Black.

Hmmm.

a rule i follow in general is that FBM is awesome, so i'd personally say go for it but i have no experience with it so it's sheer personal bias of supporting the brand.

It is this frame exactly. Just the frame, no cranks. But I would also be getting a set of Odyssey forks with 990s, and some Odyssey Spacerbars v2 in exchange for my frame fork and bars.

I like the idea of building up a new setup, and the taller bars, but I am leary to end up with something that craps out.

It's from a complete. Says it was available seperately too though so who knows

Oh dang, just realized it is a pretty low standover...

Here is my current frame specs:
Top Tube: 21″
Head Tube: 75.5°
Seat Tube 71°
Chain Stays: 13.75″
Stand Over: 8.8″
BB height: 11.8″
Weight: 4.8lbs

And the Warlord:
Top Tube Length 21"
Head Tube Angle 74.5 degrees
Bottom Bracket Height 11-3/4"
Seat Tube Angle 71 degrees
Standover Height 7-3/4"
Rear End Length 13-3/4"

Thinking I'll pass on that one. Standover being an inch lower and the HT angle a full degree less. Not really sure.

If the frame really was available seperately, then it's possible the frame from the complete had a diff serial from the frame that was aftermarket even though they are the same. But you know what it is so I dont see what good the serial is

All I really know about the Warlord is it was on the highest level complete FBM had, and was like the only aftermarket frame they sold that wasn't USA made.

That geo sounds really squirrelly in the warlord steep headtube angle, shortchainstay.

If the offset on the oddessy forks in larger then what you have. I doubt it would be dramatically different with your headtube angle and fork offset.

Standover height is short.

That has angles similar to a race bike with a short rear end, and a 21" TT.

HELLUVA dirtbike. A big jump bike.

The warlord is the shallower ht angle...so it is more of a dirt setup with a slacked ht angle. The rest is pretty similar, but lower standover.

It would be a LOT different with my headtube angle. I currently have 75.5 with 11mm offset (give or take a couple mms) and it would be a straight up 74.5 with a 25 mm offset, making the front end essentially further out, meaning less squirrelly and more slacked for high speeds.

always thought smaller HT angle numbers meant steep. so yeah it most definitly would not handle anything like your old ride. Stuff was going the wrong direction in my head.

Smaller is shallower. Higher numbers are steeper when it comes to headtube angles. They are based off a level (horizontal) plane. 90 degrees is directly upright from a horizontal line, so 75.5 is a degree steeper than 74.5, meaning it is more responsive steering. Shallower would be more raked out, meaning it would be less responsive, but better for higher speeds.

It would handle more like my old Failure Grade one, be a more jumper/trails design. It would take a tad more oomph to get onto the front wheel.

Honestly the thing that is killing it for me is the 7.5 standover. Too low for this old fart. I'd have to have my seat post a full inch further out to match the height to make pinching it comfortable.

It's an old"ish" used frame anyways. Unless you know how well it was kept, and how hard the dude rode it. I wouldn't be all that heartbroken about it.

Definitely not heartbroken, I am looking to change my setup and this was a solid means to do so and get some other parts I want without spending anything but some time and gas to get em.

SIDE NOTE: If you are in Minnesota or Western Wisconsin and would like to swap frames IN PERSON, I want a 21" tt and similar standover. Get at me.

MY FRAME SPECS:
2012 Federal Lacey Chrome
Top Tube: 21″
Head Tube: 75.5°
Seat Tube 71°
Chain Stays: 13.75″
Stand Over: 8.8″
BB height: 11.8″
Weight: 4.8lbs

MUST HAVE BRAKE MOUNTS.

If you know the guy well, ask him to do a temporary trade first so that you can try frame. Test it out for like a day or two and make a final decision.

It would be a roughly 75 mile drive to swap...so one to two days wouldn't fly.
