Ok I have a frame that is 20.75 tt and I put a stolen stratos stem on and I have 8.25 rise handle bars and when I do 360 I always hit my knees on the handle bars and most people say that a 20.75 top tube is good for people that are around my height witch is 5'9 do you think I should get a 21 tt

|

Its honestly just about how you feel. I would go to the park and ask someone with a larger bike if you could ride it and just get the see if you like it. I personally ride a 21' tt and 9' rise bars, and I'm 6 foot. But again, its just about feel.

Hello, Welcome to Vital.

http://www.vitalbmx.com/forums/General-BMX-Talk,2/READ-FIRST-NEW-MEMBERS-AND-USEFUL-LINKS,626597

- Tips
If you are new to riding and have lots of questions, please make one thread with all of them. You will not get your answer instantly, people will answer so don't make a new thread when people don't answer instantly. If your thread falls to the bottom and your question has not been answered or you want more input "bump" your thread back to the top. This way you can have all of your questions answered and will not clog the forum. Expect to get bashed on we are not fans of it but it does happen, remember it will pass as you prove yourself. Thick skin will help you not take that seriously. Change your avatar, it will help separate you from the rest of the stock graphic members. If you need help, let us know.

- Search
If you are asking about a part, how to do a trick or even how to fix something, use the search it's probably already been posted and answered. It will save you time and get your answer faster than waiting for us to answer your question. If you are posting news about a new part, new company, new team members and other bmx related news, search, chances are it's already been posted. It can't hurt to search before posting something, so make a habit of it.

Your frame thread:

- Questions
We need all the info you have about the problem, we can't help if you can't tell us what the problem is. More info helps us help you. Pictures and video are very helpful when trying to figure out what is wrong with your bike. If you want help on choosing a part or complete, Tell us how much you are willing to spend and what you are going to ride. If you want opinions on a part give us a link. It's not fun having to search to help. Make it easy and you will get more help.

Doing what you're doing now will likely make people overlook your threads, as there are many, also change your avatar to anything/something and you will get more answers, Make a thread next time titled something with the many questions inside

ie. "Frame help"

Inside : "I want a cheap, light frame that fits my riding style i ride xxxxxx (park, trails, street, whatever and i do lots of this or this) i ride a 20.75 now and sometimes bump my knees on 3's, My budget is xxx, Could you help me out?"

Not trying to be rude/sarcastic with that stuff up there, but, you aren't seeing the reasons why you get few responses, i promise if you follow the rules/guidelines and tips in that thread you will have a much better experience.

Help with your question this thread was about:

It's all about feel, if you feel hunched over and hit your knees alot, you could upgrade to a 21", As for your other thread, "Cheap" & "Light" don't go together, The cheapest "light" frames around are either a. Used or b. about 200$ on dans. If i were you i would save up for a nice frame like 300$ish, it will by far outlast the 200$ frames and feel better. A heavy bike doesn't affect much if you're young, it just takes a little more practice to overcome the weight.

If you read that thread and follow the stuff that is in it i won't bug you about it, i promise. I didn't write that thread, its the general expectations for everyone on here.

You want a frame right?
What kind of tricks do you do, what environment do you ride? (Trails, street or park?).
Are you comfortable on your current frame except hitting your knees occasionally?
What kind of a budget do you have for a new frame?

I'm confused, how do you hit your knees on your handlebars? Can't really picture that. Have you done 360's on other frames or are you just now trying them? It might just be your form honestly

This is my bike I like my handle bars back a little and idk I just want a bigger frame I feel cramped on my bike sometimes
|

20.75 should be fine but it does come to how you like it, after all you are the one who will be riding it for the most part. For example my problem is my cranks issue, 182 those stupid beasts. I'm suggesting if it is not the frame it maybe the cranks... though if a 21 does feel good for you then great! Go for it... just thought i'll mention the cranks because that can also play a factor in how it feels...

The cranks are 182 I think

What frame is that? Looks smaller than 20.75

Also you mentioned that you feel cramped, if that's the case you definitely need a new frame. You shouldn't feel cramped on your bike

No geo specs, assuming its a weird seat tube angle. I had a DK and it felt like a 20" but was 20.5" because of the seattube angle.

Ride another 20.75" or whatever length your top tube is and see if it feels longer if you so please, finding a frame fit for you is sometimes hard at first

I fucking wish we could travel back in time 10, or even 5 years. Nobody would be able to ride.

I can say if that is the case, get rid of those horrid things as soon as you can, my profiles are 182 and riding hasn't been much fun with them, and I do not race so they're useless to me.. so that may be the same problem you are having too... I am currently looking for cranks since it's winter time a can't do much riding... what cranks do you have?

165mm, 170mm, and 175mm sized cranks... fit indents are nice, though I'd look around, try other cranks out, like your friends if he's cool with it and keep a look out at the for sale section... though be a bit skeptic we had an unfortunate amount of scammers earlier, but there are legit sellers. there are other kinds of cranks (i'm sure you know) I would look around check reviews on parts and get others advise on what to get as well.

Bump your bars forward. It does a lot to help your bike feel bigger. You might not like it at first but you'll get used to it.

I'm 5' 9" went to a 21 TT much better for me .. 20.5 TT felt cramped. . If you like extra room try a longer stem reach
