Hi guys! I am going to buy my first Bmx bike so I don't know much about parts and other stuff. I am about 175 cm and 65kg and now I have my eyes on a Sunday Scout, my budget is around 400$. I want to hear your opinions on this bike or other bikes. Thank you.

That's not a bad bike. Loads of aftermarket parts on it. But the frames isn't full chromoly, and it doesn't mention if the bars or forks are.

You could easily find a bike that has a full chromoly frame, forks and bars for the same kind of money. But the other components won't be as good.

So it depends on your disposable income really. Can you afford to upgrade wheels in 6 months time? Can you afford to upgrade the frame in 6 months time?

Nope, that's what I was thinking about. Is the Academy Desire 2017 a good bike? One of my firends has the 2015 model and he likes it. Should I consider buying a second hand bike also?

Check thre Hoffman Bama. I think it's about 400ish and has a full-chromo frame, double wall wheels, sealed parts. There's also the Kink Liberty which seems pretty nice for 450. Probably a bunch of others but these are bikes that have come up recently when similar questions are asked. Here's a some links:

I would see if you can get a good custom on craigslist. Just make sure you post it here and let people tell you if the parts are good. I got my custom worth about 1300 for 550, almost brand new.

The market here is not so large, only few good bikes, but they are old... 2012, 2013 models. I saw the two bikes and they are quite the same as the Academy, asked my friend with the 2015 model and he said he didn't have any problems with it and he is riding it for almost 2 years now.

The academy isn't a bad bike. But I'd never heard of them until I looked up that bike a little while for someone else on here.

All of the above suggestions are well worth a look at

I'd get the Kink Liberty if I was looking to spend 400ish USD and I wasn't old and fat. For 450 that's a nice bike. Full Chromoly, after market parts, and everything is sealed. I haven't really looked at anything else in that price range but that's basically what you're looking for in a complete. Check other bikes in your price range and see what they have in terms of the frame construction and components and compare.

If you can spend a little extra I bought a Kink Redwood and it's been solid so far. It's called a Downside this year $499 sealed everything and chromoly. And Kink stands behind their stuff if you have any problems.

All the listed bikes are full crmo, double walled rims etc. So now I think is about which bike looks nicer. Kink seems to be a really nice bike for the price.

I heard that the raw frames are getting rusty over time, is that true? Should I buy a matte frame?
