Matt Hoffman was the first to hit a handrail, he has said in an interview that at a competition he saw the first person ever to use pegs outside of flatland was just to double peg stall the quarter, after that people started grinding quarterpipes and grinding evolved from that

I've seen that clip of Hoffman hitting a down rail.. I had no clue he was the very first to do it tho. Motherfucker basically invented BMX so it figures. All credit still goes to the mystery guy to do the first double peg on his flatland bike, that's pretty G.
