Fly Ruben Grips?

i literally just posted about them in another thread. i've been rocking them for years because they're the only grip that tapers out and i really like that. current pair (red) i've had for 3 months and they have no signs of wear. super comfy and pretty good grip even when sweating (it's real humid in philly this year). i go on 10+ mile bike rides at least 3x a week so i'm on them a lot.

Just got the email about you postin on the thread..lol and i checked out your bike in your bike check thing the grips look pretty sick

i cut the flanges off and this pair survived a bar transfer. i'll try to post a pic tonight of how not worn they are.

Thanks homie. Think ill try some out. They seem pretty perfect honestly, I just dont remember them lasting long for whatever reason. Maybe im wrong though, this was yeeeaaarss ago.

I've had two pairs. One white pair from like 2008 or something and one black pair last year. The white pair was perfect sooo soft and comfortable, good grip etc. lasted from june to fall. the black pair sucked imo, real hard (nh), never got real comfortable, i slipped off a few times etc. lasted two or three months.

They're alright but maybe used to be better.

Isoprophl alcohol rules for transferring grips. Stick a plastic fork or something like that and pour that iso into the entire grip until it slides off. Ever since i started doing it this way it seems like i never ruin my grips anymore when transferring

^thank you...i used to use dawn dishsoap...lol or id just spit in my grips to get em on

Np shadow2, i have had it with the soap, hairspray spit u name it. 91% isoprophyl alcohol evaporates very quickly so its perfect for this application. The dish soap leaves a slippery residue, the iso just evaps until the grip is cemented to the bar againlol

I use a air compresser to get my grips on! Don't have to use anything.. Just get a air gun attachment to the compresser and it basically widens your grips so you can put them on!!!!

If i had access to an air compessor, this would have been my first choice on removing grips/transfers . Excellent advice Justin!

Used to do this till we got rid of the air compressor

Just use vodka, works the same, more people are likely to have it in their house. Ive got some demo dennis grips to try out.....

vodka would work as well but I'd be more tempted to drink it than use it on my bike lol if more people have vodka in their house over a medical grade solvent/disinfectant then thats sad though every household should have at least a bottle of iso. its like $.99 at walmart lol

edit:i SUCK at bmx when i drink lol its actually really fucking hard to do anything lol highly not recommended. also people dont ever forget, you drink and ride that could mean DUI! be safe every body

I aint saying we all alcoholics, just that in my family anyway, everyone has vodka for mixers haha, though it never gets touched at my mums cept for my puttin new grips on haha

think i got the iso...lol but i for sure have rum,malibu and some more malibu in my freezer and the sad part i cant drink any of it...

lol if u use rum on ur grips they may smell like vanilla spice when it dries up

EDIT, i actually read ur situation. I read it the other day. Just be careful man, some girls aren't worth trying that hard for. Trust me. with controlling girls, they'll try to wrap u around their finger and when the time is right they WILL strike. and it WILL suck.

EDIT:that sounds like my ex except she sold all my shit-.-.....but ive known this chick for like 6 years and we just decided to date and i know shes not gonna screw me over lol but reason i cant drink unless shes around cuz of some things that happened last sunday(reason we broke up)...anger issues get the best of you lol

I got u duder! no worries lol just the thought of households (especially households with children) without iso made me sad. especially a bmxkids house. cuz all the cuts and scrapes and stuff. It would be crazy not having a bottle of iso. Dude, i heard on the news parents in florida are WHACK. 17 children have died from parents leaving them in the hot car just this year alone!!!! So when you mentioned that vodka would be more avail in most households I could actually almost believe that lol

i use canned air for lack of compressor with water. my grips slowly rotate though so next time i'll use alcohol. hopefully that'll make it stick better long term.

It will ull see. No grip rotation period with iso. The compressed air can is a cool idea though

Just got these. Seem pretty rough/hard. Feel decently grippy though. Hoping for the best with these. Id hate to have another let down.

You have to flip them though. Dope as fuck when flipped
