Anyone ever deal with this? Ate shit on a downside whip yesterday & fell straight to concrete open handed. Hurt like fuck but I got over it and continued riding. At the end of the night, it really hurt so this morning/afternoon I went to get it xrayed and the doctor had no clue if it was an old fracture that healed like that, or if it was new. And I'm honestly not sure if it's old or new myself cause that same wrist sometimes hurt really bad if I landed funny but I'm dumb and would just ignore it and it'd go away after awhile.

So I think it's BEEN like that for awhile now, supposed to see a specialist about it next week to follow up but just wanted to know if anyone else has dealt with the same thing in the past.

I was given a splint to wear but honestly my wrist doesn't really hurt at all unless I move it in a certain way, and it's only a dull soreness then anyway so idk. Photo

A buddy of mine had a broken bone in his wrist and rode constantly anyway and it took like a year and a half to heal.

Damn, that's probably what happened to me cause I've injured this wrist several times in the past way worse so I probably broke it at one point, never got it checked, then did what your buddy did and just kept riding on it cause it's always felt a little funny and took forever to heal

There's probably not much they could do for me if it's been broken for years so oh well haha just gotta take it easy for a little

Well you're not wrong, I'm stubborn as fuck but really want it to heal up properly. Still gonna just cruise around town, the splint will deter me from doing anything cause I cruised out to the shop to work earlier and could barely hop up a curb with it on haha

Good idea.

Does the brace interfere with work? Does crankin' down on wrenches and whatnot hurt?

I'm not sure haha I got annoyed with it being on so I took it off while I was there, but using using wrenches and shit didn't irritate it at all really

Doctor here:
Don't ride on it please. Let it rest, wear the brace and apply heat on it every night for increased vaculature to speed the healing process.

Thanks, that's kind of awesome you're a doctor bmx rider.

It's supposed to rain the next couple of days, guess I don't have much of a choice anyway haha but yeah I used heat last night and it seemed to help, planned on it tonight too. I've been rotating it around (with no pain or irritation) and it seems to be helping, it feels a lot better so I'm like really positive it's been fractured from a previous injury probably years ago and I just really irritated it yesterday when I fell since it never healed right...

I'll know when I follow up with the specialist, I'm just worried if it's BEEN broken all this time, what my options are then.

Thank you, it became a dream of mine to become a pro flatland rider and graduate med school at the same time. you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

They will probably do a CT scan or MRI (most likely but takes longer) to get a better idea of the tissue damage and healing process. Good job on the heat and don't push it too hard until you get that visit with your specialist.

Hey have you ever heard of Dr. Kyle Brown? Hes a physical therapist as well as a professional skateboarder. I follow his instragram for a lot of tips.

@dr.khylebrown

I think a lot of people, especially those around mid-20s and above can benefit from this.

it only gets worse as you get older, i got my two middle fingers hurt when playing football, i was in goal and the ball bent two of them back when someone tried to score, it didn't hurt at the time but a few days later i was noticing pain when picking up 2 litre bottles of juice, that was like that for about a year, also hurt my left shoulder when hitting my heavy bag when took about a year to heal before i could get back to hitting the bag/boxing again.

Haha for some odd reason Im always spelling Kyle as Khyle. Probably because the first few people I met with that name had it spelled with an H, and even after having South Park in my head for years I still spell it with an H lol.

Just take it super easy and try to not really do much riding for a monthish, and film the homies, then ease back into it. He was riding the day after he broke it and never really stopped.

Update: Didn't see the specialist yet, but my wrist feels 99% back to normal already. The 1% is a slight soreness inside of it.

Obviously though I'm gonna take it easy for a little and just cruise around and such while wearing the splint, see what the doctor says but I'm almost certain it's just BEEN fractured in the past.
