Do you guys prefer free coaster over cassette or no. And how do you like them. Also what kind do you have?

Yes. Love it. Opens up so many new possibilities, plus it just feels better for me. I have a Federal V3.

Love having a cassette but I wouldn't mind trying a coaster but my problem is no one I know I where I ride locally has one so I can't try it to see what I think and I can't afford to blow £130 a hub I don't like

there is a mtb one for 20 on ebay, debating if it is worth lacing it to an old rim...

Once you get use to the slack its not bad, but until then I was banging my knees on the bars a lot. I ride a cassette now and I like it much better smile

well if i am hitting a lot of jumps and stuff i want a cassette, but most of the time i prefer a coaster, even though i need to order a bearing for my odyssey reloader. i prefer like a ton of slack, and coasters, for me, are waayyy more fun because once you get a good feel for it, you can fakie a loooong time and do backwards stuff, which is great!! haha

I ride a Cassette, however i have had pretty much every Freecoaster going over the years & i am still waiting for one that is reliable & works well. I'm holding my hopes out on the Eclat Blind hub. Should be out in a couple of months then we will see how this one hold up! Will more than likely be riding exclusively Flatland on it though.

I run it max slack and it's just under a quarter crank. You get used to it in about 2-3 hours of riding.

The Odyssey Reloader is by far the best coaster if you maintain it. Mines been around for ages and all its needed was a driver bearing after a year of riding it. Its definitely showed that it could last id recommend one to anyone who can find it haha it engages well and doesnt slip or make nasty noise its a fucking monster bro

But as for the whole freecoaster or cassette thing, i was all for cassette and hated a coaster cause of slack but once i snapped my axle on my Madera i had no choice but to use the coaster if i wanted to ride. It took a while but i love freecoaster way more than a cassette. Way more tricks and shit you can do and IMO a coaster takes more skill. I run mine with with no slack spacers inside so its like MAX slack like a bit more than a quarter crank. you can get used to it and learn some super fun shit like sliders and fakie hop gaps and fakie manuals. Cassette gets mad boring and being a ninja on a coaster makes you not look back haha

Run a cassette for now but when the éclat Blind releases i'll be getting one. Best looking coaster and im hopeful that it's going to be solid as fuck since it's éclat and they've been testing it forever.

I think im going to buy this sometime & lace it to an old rim or something & get a 3/8 to 14mm adapter.

Or I might just pull a coaster brake wheel off a bike somewhere.

Waiting for the eclat to come out too, gunner lace it to a 777 and an get them fakie manuals, I can do em with the cassette but not for very long.

A lot of good edits recently featuring the coaster, loved the recent Gabe Brooks one he's such a beast.

It says freecoaster at the top so I instantly thought it was a freecoaster. Thanks for pointing that out.
