I am thinking of getting a freeacoaster but I heard that they break a lot. Would you recommend it and why? Also what kind of maintenance does it need?

disassemble and grease all the internals bi weekly. and thy dont break. The bearings tend to last not as long as a cassette

Getting the blind soon, so when you say bi weekly you mean every 2 weeks or twice a week? Twice a week seems excessive.
Freestyle is the answer to everything --
a fresh way to approach a dull or a
dangerous thing.
to do a dull thing with style
is preferable to doing a dangerous thing
without it.

The blind doesn't use a khe design so it might not even need to be greased.

So would you recommend a freecoaster for a beginner?
Edited Date/Time:
Definitely not, for a few reasons
1. It makes riding more difficult, and you will gain nothing from it.
2. They don't necessarily require more maintenance (You can go 4+ years with little to no maintenance), but if you treat them like a beginner would you will run into problems very soon.
3. You look like a tool when you have a freecoaster but can't fakie at all.
What ohian said but not as blunt.. If you are a beginer to the whole of bmx, itll hinder you most likely, its harder to fakie, youll hate the slack, and theyre more effort than a cassette. Get used to a cassette a bit more, then gst the blind (which is convertible to a cassette) and youll be fine.
