My bike came with a caliper front brake, and they left the brake cable hanging outside.
Can the cable be put through the fork?
I'm not sure, because the screw that attaches the caliper brake goes through the fork where the cable would have gone, and I'm not sure there is enough room for the cable, so that the brake would work without problems.
I think I would also need a longer cable than the one I have attached now, so I figured I'd ask here first if I can/should do it.

And by the way, the caliper front brake works very well. It even brakes better than the back brake (which I think is a U-brake).

Yes I did that to my Haro 100.1. I just changed the compression bolt with a hollow one to fit the cables.

The only way to know is to try.
I think you can put the cable inside the fork, then tie it on a fork leg.
If you have room between your fork and your tyre, this will probably work.

My compression bolt is hollow, but there is little room between the fork and the tire, so the cable would need to be bent in a way that I fear will compromise it, so I'll just leave it for now.
Thanks for the help.
