Have you seen anyone do a hang five where they put their back foot on the peg?
I want to know if I should just give up on learning them the wrong way, similar to how turndowns are a lot harder the wrong way.

i think he means putting like if he is right foot forward putting his left foot on the front peg.. not putting his feet on the back peg

I have nothing against pegs at all, I don’t think you’re dumb if you ride pegs, I don’t care about your pegs, they are just pegs! What I do hate is the fact that every person in BMX hops on this bandwagon of three pegs, and beanies, and weed, and hop-over grinds… It’s just sad that the pros who influence kids are more worried about looking cool than the kids themselves! That's how I am, I don't do them but it's not hard to pop into them. I'm right foot forward with 4 pegs but left is my normal pegs

My friend john is like that and has trouble hopping into them but can still do them if he rolls into it. Maybe try switching your feet before you get into it

That is how I do them. Left foot is my rear foot, and I stand on my left peg for hang 5's.

I don't see how it matters if you're learning them. As soon as you take either foot off your pedal, your cranks are vertical.

Once you learn to hang 5 well, hopping is easy and your foot placement doesn't matter.

I do this. I'm left foot forward and hang five with my right foot, when i hop into a hang five up a ledge, i have to go right foot forward, over time i become used to it, but still...sucks being shitfoot

I'm still in the stage where I have to step onto the peg first to do em. Can you hop out of them well off of obstacles? Because when I see people do 'em, their cranks stay horozontal for the most part to set up their landing.

What CHANCExBMX said sounds like the exact reason I feel learning it this way really sucks. I'm going to try to start learning it with my front foot.

I can hop into/out of them.

Honestly, I think it's easier to have your front foot free, so when you go to hop back, your pedal is right there.

BUT, learning most new things are hard so learn it however way is easiest for you. Once you have it down, it will be easy.

If I'm not hopping into them and just putting my foot on the peg and lifting, it's all the same...but if i'm hopping up a ledge into one, all i do is switch my footing (instead of left foot forward, i switch to right)...i'd say learn them like me, its way easier....it took me like 20 minutes to get used to hopping into them with switched footing so dont worry...itll help out a llot
