Seems like everyone uses/has them. Seems like the majority of bike checks I see on youtube, forums and google image searches will mostly show bikes with g sport.

Whats with the popularity with g sport rims...?

Don't really want to get them as I want to be a little different and stand out.

But...If there is something unique or special that clearly separates them from the competition (reliability/durability/performance)...I would like to know and maybe see if I should get them anyway.

I've just got some alienation felon rims, they're made from a different material which they claim is 30% stronger. And the eyelets are drilled at an angle to give better nipple support. I've only ridden on them for an hour or so but they seem solid, especially considering I used my frame and forks as a truing stand and my spokes are old and messed up. Added bonus, they're a lot cheaper than g sport

Totally agree.

Seems like everyone and their brother, sister and uncle has em here in the US too and not just the UK.

Odyssey isnt but g sport is from sheffield owned by george french and then around 2005 he went into buisness with odyssey/otx design.
He's designed so many legendary products
Odyssey elementary stem(only product to win a engineering design award)
Odyssey clutch
Grand stand pedals
G sport plegs(first proper plastic peg imo
The ingenious gland guards

They are solid rims.

I also like my Demolition Zeros.

Sun rims are good too.

The last two are more reasonably priced.

Ive had birdcages front and rear for almost two years. They are solid

Because they're arguably the best (The Ribcages anyway)

Not getting them to "be different" is just as stupid as not getting Odyssey forks because everyone else has them and you wanna be different. You're more than welcome to if you want an inferior product.

They're made from a proprietary aluminum (which is kept secret for obvious reasons) which keeps them not only super strong but fairly light as well. They also have a rib that goes around in the center of the rim to help prevent spokes from pulling the nipples through, adding to its strength. Plus they're cross laced for a stiffer wheel, and I believe carry a warranty of sorts as well.

I have lots of faith in Gosport George, the engineer who designs the parts
