okay ive had this hub for a few months and its been starting to act up lately. since day 1, the driver system was always kind of tight, as in the cranks wont spin enough to even crank flip. this isnt a big deal, but the rough or tight driver system has gotten worse. the driver is hard to move freely, and when you spin the wheel, it has so much drag that it slows very quickly. the drag is horrible and it sucks because my bike is slow and sluggish. not only that, its hard to pedal and sometimes the hub will make a screeching noise. what can i do to fix any of this? ive rebuilt the thing, wiped down every part, greased it, and nothing. still doing it. please help. if i could get the wheel to spin freely with little to no drag that would be awesome, crankflips are a plus too!

If you have the 9t driver, it could be the problem. I don't know what it is, but I personally thought the design of that driver was simply missing something. The 10t driver always used a backing washing behind the driver and it was smooth as butter. But yeah, my 9t was literally crap since day 1 and it broke in, but was still always never great. Then the drive side cone start totally eating away and then, I decided it wasn't worth spending a 10t driver on. All you can do is possibly get ahold of a 10t driver. Sorry, but these probably discontinued due to that common problem..

inb4 oneeyeilluminatiguy coming in here to type poorly constructed sentences about how that hub is the worst thing ever and highly satanic.

Was there any deformation on the driver anywhere inside? Could be rubbing somewhere, could be faulty parts, idk. I'm not too familiar with them as I've only seen photos but I think at some point they had a bad batch and it was remedied later on, so try emailing G-Sport (Or just wait for the man himself to pop in here haha) and they should be able to get you sorted out.

Mine did similar shit before i got rid of it, since George was kind enough to hook me up with a new driver..... just kidding he didn't hook shit up wouldn't even warranty the damn thing lmfao

This hub is great for anyone who wants to give brakeless riding a shot since it doesn't even roll to begin with Hahaha.

Overall that hub ruinded 2 or 3 years of riding for me, i couldn't tell you how many times i got fucked up because that things slowness.

has fake lifetime warranty.

I will say the bolts held up good though grin grin grin grin grin grin

Grease the inside of the driver and stuff. Mine went slow and once i greased it all it was awesome.

Check the inside for wear marks. Something is clearly hitting something it shouldn't. Take the driver out and spin the bearings with your hand, see how they feel. Check the hub bearings too. See if there is any metal filings or spots that look worn. Make sure there is some lube in there. Could even be something as simple as a bearing being compressed a bit causing more friction (maybe a spacer would clear the issue up).

Post photos too. Sometimes others see things you don't, especially those who have had similar troubles.

ill post pics later, the bearings arent bad at all, if if have the wheel off the bike and i just spin it without holding the driver with my fingers it will go really fast and stay fast, but the second i hold the driver it slows very fast. i tried grease it didnt help. ill send pics of the internals later though

Lol probably just didn't like you.

Cracked the hubshell after years of riding, did it on a friday, emailed him saturday and he came through to my house with a new shell and bearings on the monday, excellent service and had literally zero issues since.

So maybe if it turns out there is an actual problem, be polite and explain the situation, manners go a long way.

Funny cause i was nice to George until he decided to be a total douche bag, i even let him know i couldn't afford to ship the wheel to him or the driver i was going through a hard time house was infested with bed bugs and i didn't really have a job, but to only find out years later from other people how he just sent them drivers for free like wtf for real, so overall George was being a totally douche bag about the situation witch as you all have seen before i blew up on him about it and posted stuff every time i see someone having an issue with that hub, i hope George sees it and it makes him realize he should have helped me out and not to do that to anyone else again.

I have had no problems with mine... at it is used. It even pops together really easily. There are four year olds that could totally build this thing haha. It's like legos honestly! My driver was a little sluggish at first, but i went easy on the grease at first, so i slapped it with some extra and it went perfectly.

The thing about press-fit collars is that if there is ANY bit of wrong machining, or a bearing seat a little off, the thing wont run right. Whereas a hub with the threaded collars, you can just twist them a little tighter or loosen them and they'll be okay really.

But what I think happens is just a little deformed bit is in there, like that washer is slightly wrong or something, causing more than necessary pressure on a bearing.

You can hope in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first.

Long story short, there was probably a reason he denied you. Maybe you were a bit of an ass about it. Maybe he didn't like the tinfoil on everything trying to "protect you from government controlling radio waves".

Quit being butthurt about something so trivial. Seriously. "Waaaaa he didn't give me a driver for a hub, I am gonna post on everything ever about his company because I can't let it go"

BUTTHURT.

Hey Dude, sorry to hear of the problem.

Without the hub in front of me it is hard to diagnose, so please forgive me if I am suggesting stuff you have already covered, always better to start with the simple stuff.
First check your chain tension. If it isnt that then check your dropouts for serious damage that might be throwing everything off.

If it isnt either of these then most likely something is assembled in the wrong order. If you look here there are exploded diagrams etc that may help you work it out http://www.gsportbmx.com/v2/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/ratchet-hub-instruction-manual.pdf
I would leave the main axle and hub bearings in place first as they are unlikely to be responsible and focus on the driver (you can spin the wheel with the driver off to check that the main bearings aren't the cause).
When you have everything apart, look closely for damage and when you reassemble make sure that everything is in the right order and well greased.
I hope this helps.

George

PS Oneguyilluminatieye, I thought that I tried very hard to help you out for as long as the conversation was civilised. I am genuinely sorry if you don't think that I did. I even tried to carry on helping you when your emails became increasingly aggressive and rude, but there is only so much I can do if someone refuses to engage.
I still have all the correspondence by email, and the thread on here probably still exists too. I dont think that I wrote anything that I should be too ashamed of or that went to far, but if I did, sorry. I am sure that we are both older and wiser now and maybe able to move on. All the best.
