Sup so I used to ride back in the early 90s had redline and powerlite frames, and basic Wal-Mart parts to piece it together. Except I used V brakes and bear claw pedals back then too. Lol needless to say I never took I seriously but now I’m wanting to ride. I just grab a kink 2021 curb bike. I know it’s very basic all Hi-Ten steel, single wall rims. So I’m going to have to upgrade wheels, forks, and bars. Probably first. So I guess question is did I make a messed up investment or am I headed in the right direction. Btw I stay i Chicago so there’s shit to ride everywhere.

If you’re anything like me(I’m 38 and getting back in too) then you’re going to feel cramped with that 20” top tube. Glad to see I’m not the only old guy trying this again though. Lol

Yea! I’m thinking so but I went off my ladies budget and couldn’t find tt in a 20.75 or better, since she didn’t understand the cost of this sport. Lol

If you’re any shorter or less fat than me you may be ok. Back in the day I rode a 20.25”TT at 6ft tall but 155lbs. Now I’m 225lbs. I got on the old bike today for the first time in 20 years and felt like a gorilla on a moped. If I stick with this I’m going to be searching for a much longer bike

Tbh I’ve been riding some kids next bike around just to feel myself again. Heavy I might add but I think the tube is less than 20 and I’m cramped but kinda ok. Being at 5’11” and 190. But I think a 20.25 will be best suited for me. Isn’t the studying way different from our time.

Another 38yr old geezer here...I'm short and big guy (5'8, 200 lbs.) IMHO - the TT length can sometimes be misleading. My '16 FIT Pledge has a TT 20". My latest build has a TT of 20.8". While my daughter's '14 FIT Dugan is at TT 21". Out of the 3, the Dugan seems to give me the "cramp" feeling. So what gives?

Both the Pledge and DB have bars with a higher rise (9.5 compared to 8. something). And Top Load Stems, while the Dugan - Front Load.

Either way...welcome back.

So the 20 TT works for you better than the longer? Do you do street, trails, or park?

- Streets -

You'd think it would be the other way around. And trust me, even I was surprised when I first compared the TT length between them. Maybe it's a "mental" thing, since the Dugan belongs to my daughter.  Perhaps I subconsciously view it as a "smaller" bike. But even yesterday I let her ride my DB (TT - 20.8) and at least visually...she appeared too small for it.
