Getting back into it.

I've been kind of depressed for a few days and riding hasn't seemed very fun, I felt like I was losing touch with riding and was starting to just give a shit about a nice bike. I've been having less and less commitment to riding that I am just slowly retrogressing, so I felt like going through some of the first edit's and video parts I've watched to try and help re-spark that urge to ride again, wanting to help myself remember when I first started riding and all the good times I've had, all by watching these videos.

I also came up with something to add into this thread.

What were the first video's you've seen that helped spark a bigger interest into riding bikes, and if you ever had started to somewhat lost interest in riding, how do you guys get it back?

One more bit too, I just thought I'd link some of the first videos I've seen which sparked my interest.

I had the most fun riding with my friends back when we were all teenagers. Life was a little more simpler back then though. Now I just try to go out there and have fun and meet new people.

When I get bored with riding, I just let myself be bored riding. No point in forcing it, it will either come back, or it doesn't. Usually I find that it comes back pretty quick.

I believe pretty strongly in Regression to the Mean. There are high points and low points (in this case, in my ability and interest in riding), but it largely oscillates around a constant value, or a linearly increasing or decreasing value. Fight it all you want, but the nature of it is that you will have highs and lows.

Fuck, I feel like a dirty hippy right now.

I never really lose interest but i do have days where riding just doesn't feel right and all my movement is real loose and sloppy.

Usually i watch a few videos before I ride everyday. Just helps me decide what i wanna ride like or do. Once spring is in full swing i can make my jumps and get it all ready. All i really need is just possibly a set up change. Like if i get bored i just switch something around. Like bars or tires or something little. I did actually completely switch set ups once or twice and that made riding really fun just to see how certain tricks feel on different set ups. Lately i have been very content with how my bike feels. Just because it's 100% solid and i can trust it. Which is kind of a first. It's also never been this balanced too.

For me, obviously, the set up has it for me. Usually creativity flows naturally. You may need better friends to ride with lol. I try not to ride with negative people. Which isn't too hard, but as soon as someone starts whining or bitching about a spot or their bike, it ruins it all. Positive vibes are the best when riding. Having people interested in what you're doing and cheering you on. My brother pisses me off usually when we ride. He just bitches about riding constantly like, "oh i hate having a cassette, i want my coaster back, blah blah wahhhhh" or "oh God this spot suuuuuucks" when it's the only decent one in town haha. Just stuff like that makes riding not fun.

But if my brother isn't being his usually dick like self or my good friends are with me, it's more fun.

You worry too much, dont make yourself obligated to ride. If its a nice day but you dont feel like it watch a film or something dont make yourself do it. Ive rode once this year as weather and how i felt permitted it, had the time of my life.

tbh videos came after my interest in bmx, i only knew bmx as what was around me.

and sometimes people just dont feel like riding, shit happens. I havent rode since last saturday, and im not bothered at all, because i know when the perfect moment comes ill have no choice but to run home, grab my bike and go shed.

In the meantime, drugs are good for filling the gaps between riding.

I ride maybe 2-3 times a month now, so it doesn't get too old/boring to me. But when it did, I would ride somewhere else, go ride something different, (trails instead of street etc) or I change my bike some.

Criminal Mischief was one of the first videos I recall seeing. Man that sparked some fire for me to ride. Still does to this day.
