I've been using the same bike for nearly 10 years now, and it's most definitely time for an upgrade. I'm selling an old bike for roughly $300, and I'm willing to add about $150 or so of my own money to go towards a new one. I'm mostly interested in just cruising around town, I'm not one to do any crazy tricks. I'm 6ft2 and roughly 270lbs if that helps with suggestions.
Any suggestions for bikes/brands I should check out?

What bike are you selling for $300? Unless it was like $700-$800 new, you won't get $300. You will be very lucky to get half what it cost new. So if you can sell it for $300 then it's probably a better bike than anything you can get for $400 unless your looking at a used custom.

What I'm selling is a $600 mountain bike. I've barely ever used it so it's in super good, practically new condition. Where I live I'm willing to bet I could easily sell it for $300.

Also, I've done a little research and I was looking at the Kink Gap XL. It's one of the only bikes I could find within my price range that has a 21" top tube, which, with my height, I should probably have.

Get a used custom. I just got a $1500 bike for $400 on eBay. It's a great bike. Cult hawk, with lots of American made parts. Used is always the way to go, trust me. Just be patient and don't jump on the first thing you find. Do some research. Google search. All these questions get asked every single day, I swear.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll take a look on ebay and see what I can find.

Found a couple potential bikes. The Sunday bike is slightly above my price range, but not too bad. Thoughts?

Don't get a Framed. That are crap and they all have unsealed hubs.

Cult, Verde, Sunday, Fit, Subrosa, Kink, We The People, Haro, Fiend. Look for sealed hubs. if you are not going to do tricks you would be okay with high-ten, but cromoly is a better option.

A little biased but I have a wtp custom and a kink custom and I love the kink way more it just feels better but that's my personal preference and yeah what said above used is better. Both mine I have bought used got the wtp at a steal of 80 bucks and the kink cost me 240 and they both have good parts on them.
