First of all id like to state that Im not an idiot when it comes to bmx hubs, ive rebuilt multiple profile/maderas and many other brands and makes/models. This one imparticular is the Proper K7 cassete hub. 9t driver, uses a shim system and its all working fine, everything. I bought new bearings for it and i started taking this bad boy apart. I got all the nuts and bearings out except for the hubshell bearings next to the driver. It seems that the teeth that the driver bites onto is covering the hubshell bearing so it will not come out. I already hammered on it before realizing that it wasnt going to come out, the shell isnt bent, nothings too far gone. But the bearing is frozen now and I NEED to get it out. Any ideas helpful, dont be afraid to say whatever you think it may be, i can use literally any ideas at this point. If you have the hub and have had this issue before and know exactly how to get the bearing out, please text and call me ASAP. 414 617 3945.

Please please please somebody has to have gone through this before. If nobody gives me a good answer ill take it to my LBS tomorrow and have them check it out. But until then the only way I can see getting this out is by taking out the drivers teeth ring thing thats screwed into the hubshell.

HELP!!!

Post a photo of the bearing inside the hub.. Are you positive the ratchet ring is covering the bearing? That seems odd, but I've never really seen one in person so idk much about Proper hubs. I wouldn't think the bearing pounds out the other way either but again idk.

I can gurantee it is being covered by the ratchet ring.

It might look like the ring is pressed over the bearings but the bearings are pressed in afterwards, it might just need a bit of brute force.

Just did a bit of Googling, and other people were saying the bearing is indeed sandwiched in between the ratchet ring, meaning to replace the bearing you'd have to remove the ratchet ring. Seems really fuckin dumb of Proper to do that since doing so is next to impossible once they're threaded in.

Photos on Google don't look like the bearing is covered by the ratchet ring though so idk, maybe they changed that with later models or something

This is an older model so that would make sense. Would my LBS have tools to take out a ratchet ring?!

I don't think you can remove them once they're in there.

Honestly the only thing I can think of is you could call or email Proper and see if there's a special way to remove it or something.

There are two ways ratchet rings are put in, either screw fit or hydraulic press like g-sport. The only way i could get a g-sport ring out was when i dplit my hubshell riding, the screw type is still next to impossible, if the bearing really is pressed in before the ring that is really poor design and am sorry to hear your misfortune.

Holy shit so theres no tool to get it out?

Pretty much yeah, unless the ratchet ring has been designed to be removable like one of the old eclat hubs.

Sounds shitty.. You could try rebuilding the bearing with new bearing parts and using.the outer ring of the old bearing. I dont know if thats possible but just an idea. What a dumb design!

I thought about that. I blew it out with some pressure, knocked the balls back into the rail and greased it up good as hell and its not frozen but it grinds. Im gonna put it back together and just sell it to somebody for like $20 and let them know whats wrong. I just want to get rid of it.
