Hazard lite vs 7ka

Which is stronger? I always thought because the 7ka is more expensive and has a higher quality alloy it would be stronger. Maximusbikes seems to think that the design of the hazard lite makes it stronger. I know both are nice rims, but which is nicer?

I'd buy Hazard Lites for the design but both are really good. Odyssey rims are pretty spot on.

ive dented a hazard lite before but never a 7ka, so from experience id go with 7kas

The Seven-KA, is lighter, more expensive, and most likely stronger due to the material used. The Hazard Lite is cheaper, but heavier and possibly not as strong (but possibly is, as it does have a stronger design, which makes it heavier). All that being said, they are both great rims and you can't go wrong with either of them.

Aerospace > all other Odyssey rims.

I think the 7ka is better.

I'd say it's a proven fact that the odyssey 7ka is stronger than any other rim on the market that's double wall except for a gsport ribcage which just happens to be an almost identical rim, 7ka is made out of a stronger 7000 series aluminum and the hazard light is made with a 6000 series aluminum for the extra 10$ it's a no brainier get 7kas or ribcages over hazard lights or roll cages

Have any of you had experience with both a ribcage and a 7ka? Which is ACTUALLY stronger? I'm kinda turned off to Gsports because that's what everyone seems to get. But that's a stupid reason if the ribcage is stronger.

Hey Blaaaa I have owned all 4. Ribcage, rollcage, hazard lite and the 7ka

Ribcage has been the strongest for me with the 7ka coming pretty dam close but the ribcage is just stronger (don't know about weight. Out of the 7ka and hazard lite get the 7ka

And yeah I was the first in my town to get them but I had always run G-Sport Hubs way before that and now everyone here has bird cage and roll cages, Couple have ribcages and you might see a odyssey or primo rim here or there

I remember reading 7ks and Hazards are identical strength wise. 7ka is lighter due to being made from a stronger material thus needing less material to be equally strong. Youre paying for the weight basically. I believe due to the material, 7kas may be a bit stiffer and less likely to come out of true.

Ribcage is stronger due to cross-lacing and ribbed spoke holes (near impossible to crack/pull through)

My personal experience with 7000 series rims is when they raw out, they SUCK for braking on a gyro set up. 6000 grips much better.

Birdcages would be more than enough for you. They're stronger than you think and you'll appreciate the weight savings.

I've had ribcages, rollcages, 7ka and hazards, right now I currently have gsport to profile and 7kas to oddy/ezra fc, the ribcage and 7ka are equal in weight and strength they're the exact same design pretty much with a different name I would go with either of those rims they're pretty much bullet proof

Does the 7ka have reinforced spoke holes?

Ribcages and 7KAs are not even close to the same design... different materials, Ribcage is wider and cross-laced and has an overall stronger design, reinforcing ribs, beefier beads, etc.

|

5/25/2014 6:44 PM

7ks's aren't the same design at all? sure they both use a double walled design.
Like what XX man said they use a different material, different channel profile, different width, different thickness for the side walls, slightly higher sidewall on the 7ka i believe, thicker lip on the side wall for the ribcage,
reinforced (ribbed) spoke holes, cross lacing, and different reinforcing on the inner channels.

Also Blaaa if you can try and find a hulahoop for the rear. will be the longest lasting one out of the list

The material used is the same 7000 series aluminum, if you look at both rims with no stickers in the same color you can't even tell which is which,I've for one of each sitting right in front of me the only design differences is the ribcage has a rib all the way thru the inside middle both are awesome rims I prefer ribcages

Ribcages aren't 7000 series. No one outside of Odyssey/G-Sport really knows the material. And I can easily tell the difference just looking at them. It's blatantly obvious.

Youre a fucking idiot.

Obviously if it weren't for the stickers, both the rims you posted would be identical.

Mete rial is the same, ribcage is 10grams heavier 2mm wider 1mm higher and I got both you cannot tell the difference when you ride or even see them straight up
